Visiting Assistant / Associate or Professor in Mechanical Engineering

Role Overview

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering and Information Technology at Ajman University invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor position to begin in the Fall semester of the academic year 2026–2027.

Role Purpose

This position seeks an outstanding individual with a passion for teaching, research, and service in mechanical engineering. The role integrates modern teaching methodologies, pursues impactful interdisciplinary research, and contributes to the department's growth and societal impact through industrial collaborations, consultancy, and community outreach.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Student Development

• Develop and teach undergraduate courses in Mechanical Engineering.
• Engage in innovative and technology-based approaches to learning and teaching.
• Assess and track each student's progress and give feedback to support ongoing success.
• Maintain relationships with students that are conducive to learning.
• Provide academic advising for students.
• Supervise student projects and thesis papers.

Research & Scholarship

• Conduct high-quality research in your own field.
• Publish research outcomes in reputable journals and conferences.
• Maintain a record of collaborative and interdisciplinary research.
• Actively seek out methods, procedures, and resources to best achieve course and lesson objectives.

Collaboration & Partnerships

• Collaborate across departments, with industry, government agencies, and international partners.
• Build and strengthen industry partnerships, secure collaborative projects, and facilitate technology transfer.
• Provide consultancy services to researchers and the business community.

Governance & Service

• Participate in committees at the departmental, college, and/or university levels as assigned.
• Participate in accreditation processes, program review, and curriculum enhancement.
• Actively engage in promoting the growth of Ajman University.
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships across the organization and community.
• Ensure a respectful and culturally sensitive learning environment in all college-focused activities.
• Motivate and inspire confidence in others—students and colleagues—to overcome limitations to personal growth and success.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• Ph.D. from a reputable university.
• Outstanding teaching record in at least one of the following areas: Thermo-fluids, or Manufacturing and materials.
• Outstanding research and publications record in top journals.
• Adequate experience in supervising student projects and thesis papers.
• Excellent record in community service and scholarly activities.
• A record of collaborative and interdisciplinary research is advantageous.

Skills & Competencies

• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Supervise student work.
• Conduct independent research and publish in reputable journals and conferences.
• Work effectively with diverse team members.
• Knowledge of academic program planning and implementation.
• Familiarity with the Credit Hour academic system.
• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
