Working in Oman — the questions people actually ask

Written for this country only. The same answers repeated across six country pages is what makes Google treat them as one page.

Why are there so few Oman roles here?

Because we would rather show you sixteen real ones than pad the page with vacancies from other countries. Oman is a market we are still building out, and the alert above is the fastest way to hear as it fills.

Do I need a job offer before moving to Oman?

Yes in nearly every case. Your employer obtains the labour clearance and work permit, and your residence card follows from it. GCC nationals do not need a permit.

How does Omanisation affect private-sector hiring?

Employers work to national-employment percentages set by sector, and some job titles are reserved for Omani nationals outright. Technical, engineering and specialist roles remain the most open to expatriates.

What is the standard notice period in Oman?

Thirty days is the usual figure written into a contract, with longer periods common at senior level. Your signed contract governs, so check the clause before agreeing a start date.

Is salary in Oman taxed?

There is no personal income tax on wages. Social insurance contributions apply to Omani nationals rather than expatriate staff.

Where are the Oman roles we do hold?

Muscat and Seeb carry most of them, with Sohar, Salalah and the industrial and port areas around Duqm behind. The counts at the foot of this page are read live each time it loads.

Looking across the Gulf?

Most candidates here search three or four markets at once. Each card carries its own live count, so nobody clicks into an empty page.
