UX Lead

Role Overview

UX Lead at IBMC, hired to drive research and prototyping for a complex risk and fraud management platform. This is a senior, hands-on individual-contributor role embedded within an established product and engineering team.

Role Purpose

To personally conduct in-depth qualitative research with professional Risk Managers, synthesize findings into evidence-backed user journey models, and deliver high-fidelity interactive prototypes that guide the product team toward the right direction for a mission-critical, high-consequence platform.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Discovery

• Plan, recruit, and personally conduct in-depth qualitative research including interviews, contextual inquiry, and usability testing with specialist professional users (Risk Managers).
• Map complex workflows, workarounds, decision points, and failure points across risk management environments.
• Synthesize research findings into documented user segments, contexts, and prioritized journey maps.

Prototyping & Validation

• Turn research findings into high-fidelity information architecture, interaction models, and realistic interactive prototypes using Figma or equivalent tools.
• Build complex, data-heavy prototypes that cover edge cases and complex system states.
• Conduct multi-iteration testing with representative risk professionals to validate concepts and refine workflows.
• Document rationale and decisions for seamless technical execution.

Product Strategy & Alignment

• Serve as an autonomous thought partner across product, engineering, and domain experts.
• Challenge existing assumptions and propose improved structures based strictly on evidence.
• Partner directly with Product Managers and engineers through the build phase, ensuring findings are thoroughly documented.

Qualifications & Experience

• 5 to 10+ years of relevant hands-on experience in UX research and interactive product design (target range 7–12 years).
• Proven track record of personally planning, executing, and synthesizing qualitative research with specialist or professional users performing complex tasks.
• Strong systems-thinking capability with experience designing for dense data environments, multi-step decisions, and high-consequence workflows.
• Demonstrated expertise in building complex, data-heavy interactive prototypes from scratch.
• Clear portfolio evidence showing how user research directly transformed a design iteration and led to successfully implemented product outcomes.
• Experience working side-by-side with Product Managers and software engineers through to production build.
• Fluent, professional spoken and written English skills to interview international users and present findings to a distributed team.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in risk management, fraud detection, financial crime, AML/KYC, cybersecurity, compliance, or expert-user B2B SaaS.
• Background in trading platforms, banking, payments, or complex data analytics tools.

Additional Information

• Contract Duration: 6-month fixed-term contract (PKWT) for Indonesian-based candidates; Independent Contractor arrangement for non-Indonesian candidates.
