Role Overview

Egis Group seeks an Urban Planner to join Omrania by Egis in Riyadh. You will support the design, analysis, and technical coordination of masterplans at multiple scales, contributing to innovative and sustainable urban planning initiatives within the urban development department.

Role Purpose

To support the development of urban planning and masterplanning projects at multiple scales by contributing technical expertise in site analysis, spatial design, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder coordination. The role focuses on delivering sustainable, well-integrated urban planning solutions that align with contemporary best practices and local regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

Urban Planning & Masterplanning

• Support the development of urban planning and masterplanning projects under the guidance of senior team members.
• Develop plot parcelation, land use plans, and development parameters.
• Contribute to site analysis, demographic studies, and spatial assessments to inform planning proposals.
• Develop basic 3D massing models and spatial studies to test density, built form, and public realm strategies.
• Prepare diagrams, layouts, presentations, and illustrative masterplan materials.

Design & Visualization

• Prepare diagrams, layouts, presentations, and illustrative masterplan materials.
• Develop basic 3D massing models and spatial studies to test density, built form, and public realm strategies.
• Support the preparation of Master Plans (CMP/DMP/SMP) and urban design guidelines.

Technical Coordination & Compliance

• Support coordination with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, landscape architects, engineers, and environmental specialists.
• Support the preparation of development control regulations (DCRs), plot guidelines, and planning documentation.
• Assist in the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and submission packages for client and authority review.

Sustainability & Innovation

• Contribute to integrating sustainability, mobility, and smart city principles into planning proposals.
• Apply basic understanding of sustainable urban design, mobility planning, and public realm design principles.

Stakeholder Engagement & Learning

• Participate in stakeholder workshops and internal design reviews.
• Stay informed about emerging urban planning practices and local regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or a related field.
• Five to ten years of progressive experience in urban planning, with a focus on large-scale urban development projects.
• Familiarity with urban planning principles, land-use planning, and development control regulations.
• Familiarity with development control regulations and basic planning approval processes.
• In-depth knowledge of Saudi Arabia's urban planning regulations and policies will be considered an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

Urban Planning & Design

• Strong urban design and conceptual design skills, with the ability to develop land-use layouts, block structures, street sections, public realm concepts, and spatial diagrams.
• Good understanding of urban morphology, placemaking principles, mobility integration, and public realm design.
• Mixed skills in Planning, Urban, Architecture, and Landscape are highly appreciated.

Technical & Software Proficiency

• Proficiency in CAD and Adobe applications is required.
• Experience or familiarity with Revit and GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) will be considered an advantage.
• Experience with 3D modeling (e.g., Rhino + Grasshopper, SketchUp, ENVI-met, or similar platforms).

Soft Skills & Competencies

• Strong graphic and visualization skills, including diagramming and layout preparation.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Proven track record of successful collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
