Traffic Management Specialist

Role Overview

Traffic Management Specialist at Amentum. This role coordinates Port Handling and Inland Transportation (PHIT) activities at commercial and military seaports and airports.

Role Purpose

To coordinate PHIT activities to deliver and receive cargo at seaports and airports, complete customs clearances, arrange ground transportation, process documentation, and ensure compliance with the Performance Work Statement and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).

Key Responsibilities

Inbound Cargo Processing

• Receive inbound cargo manifests or airway bills and prepare tasking folders, Purchase Requests, ACO Customs and RAFO Clearance Letters, and Delivery Release Orders.
• Update Transportation Management System (TMS) as required.
• Coordinate inbound cargo processing and delivery actions with subcontractors.
• Receive subcontractor PHIT pricing and provide to contracting section for completion of Purchase Requests.
• Track inbound shipments until completion of delivery at sites.
• Close out tasking folders and ensure contracting section receives copies of appropriate invoices for all inbound shipments.

Outbound Cargo Processing

• Receive outbound cargo manifests or Transportation Control and Movement Documents from site traffic management departments.
• Prepare tasking folders, Purchase Requests, ACO outbound Customs Clearance and RAFO Clearance Letters.
• Update PHIT Daily Spreadsheet for all outbound shipments.
• Determine the best transportation mode to ship outbound cargo.
• Coordinate with SDDC and subcontractors for outbound sea shipments and subcontractors for outbound air shipments.
• Track outbound cargo until completion of delivery to seaport or airport.

Liaison and Communication

• Provide liaison between Amentum and shipping agencies, ECA Transportation QAE and other customers.
• Provide liaison with seaport and airport authorities, shipping agents and internal and external PHIT customers.
• Operate computers, printers, fax machines and use local area network (LAN) and email to conduct business correspondence and communications.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

• Act as work monitor designated representative to interface with PHIT subcontractors.
• Perform quality assurance actions as work monitor designated representative to ensure subcontractors are performing all duties and responsibilities in accordance with prescribed contract.
• Ensure compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).

General Duties

• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Work in maintenance shop or warehouse environment and may be required to work outdoors for extended periods.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three years' experience in the civilian or military transportation industry preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to understand, speak, read and write English at an intermediate level.
• Proficiency in personal computers and Windows Operating System.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including at minimum PowerPoint, Excel and Word programs.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment.
• Physically capable of lifting, pushing and pulling a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Physically capable of performing extensive work handling and lifting equipment.

Additional Information

• Must possess a valid home country driver's license and ability to obtain host nation driver's license.
• Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
• Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to prescribed procedures and as required for tasks being performed.
• May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
