Testing & Commissioning Engineer

Role Overview

Testing & Commissioning Engineer at DAR Engineering, a leading design & engineering consulting organization in Saudi Arabia engaged in Power Generation, Electrical Transmission & Distribution, Health Care & High Rise Buildings.

Role Purpose

Witness and support all Testing & Commissioning activities on-site for substation and protection systems, ensuring technical accuracy, safety compliance, and proper documentation throughout the commissioning process.

Key Responsibilities

Testing & Commissioning Oversight

• Witness and oversee all Testing & Commissioning activities at the site in accordance with project specifications.
• Perform and witness testing of protection relays, including configuration, logic, and functional testing.
• Participate in testing and commissioning of Substation Automation Systems (SAS).

Equipment Inspection & Verification

• Inspect and verify the installation and operation of substation equipment, including switchgear and transformers.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure strict compliance with safety procedures during all phases of commissioning.
• Maintain familiarity with electrical testing standards.

Documentation & Records

• Follow and maintain the Commissioning System Documentation (CSD) filing system.
• Prepare and maintain accurate commissioning records, test reports, and issue logs.
• Support documentation handover and ensure alignment with quality and project standards.

Fault Analysis & Technical Support

• Conduct or support electrical fault analysis, including interpretation of event and disturbance records.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, and client representatives to resolve technical issues on-site.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 3–10 years of relevant experience in Testing & Commissioning of electrical systems.
• Proven experience working with substation equipment and protection relay systems.
• Strong understanding of fault analysis and root cause identification techniques.
• Experience working in large-scale infrastructure or utility projects, preferably in the Middle East.

Skills & Competencies

• Hands-on knowledge of Substation Automation Systems (SAS).
• IEC 61850 knowledge is a plus.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
