Role Purpose
The Service Technician will carry out preventive maintenance, diagnostics, breakdown repairs, and running repairs on commercial vehicles in line with manufacturer standards and company procedures. The role is responsible for maximizing vehicle uptime, ensuring high-quality repairs, and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repairs
- Perform preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs, and running repairs on commercial vehicles.
- Carry out repairs involving clutch systems, brakes, aggregates, and other vehicle components.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and powertrain-related issues.
- Identify additional repair opportunities and provide technical observations to improve vehicle performance.
Standards and Quality
- Ensure repairs are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with OEM standards.
- Follow workshop safety standards, ISO requirements, and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate technical reports and identify root causes of vehicle concerns.
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail with a commitment to quality and first-time fix performance.
Tools and Equipment
- Utilize diagnostic tools, workshop equipment, and special service tools safely and effectively.
- Develop strong understanding of workshop tools, equipment, and diagnostic systems.
Team and Development
- Support and guide junior technicians to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to repair standards.
- Participate in continuous learning and technical training programs to enhance product knowledge and technical expertise.
Field Support
- Travel and attend field breakdowns and on-site repairs when required.
Qualifications & Experience
- ITI qualification or equivalent technical certification.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a technician within the Commercial Vehicle industry.
- Proven experience in preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs, diagnostics, and running repairs.
- Strong experience in commercial vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repair.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical understanding of commercial vehicle systems and components.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, common rail systems, powertrain, driveline, electrical systems, and air conditioning.
- Ability to diagnose faults and perform effective troubleshooting and repairs.
- Familiarity with OEM repair standards, SOPs, and workshop best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high productivity, efficiency, and quality standards.
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering excellent service.
- Continuous learning attitude and willingness to develop technical capabilities.
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to workshop standards and procedures.
