System Administrator for Qatar

Role Overview

System Administrator for Qatar at VAM Systems. The position is based in Qatar, where the selected candidate will be deputed to one of the leading Government Organizations in Qatar.

VAM Systems is a Business Consulting, IT Technology Solutions and Services company with operations in UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, USA, Australia, Singapore, and India.

Role Purpose

Design, deploy, and maintain critical storage and infrastructure systems for mission-critical enterprise applications and databases. Provide operational support, strategic leadership, and optimization of storage area networking, backup, and virtualization technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Storage Area Network Administration

• Design, deploy, configure, and maintain Brocade SAN switches.
• Maintain extensive technical knowledge and experience in operational maintenance, availability, capacity planning, and monitoring of critical Storage Area Networking (SAN).

Infrastructure Administration

• Administer Linux servers infrastructure and perform operational support activities including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.

Backup and Disaster Recovery

• Oversee EMC Networker and Veritas NetBackup infrastructure to ensure best practices are in place and the infrastructure is optimized for performance and reliability.
• Work with the team to restructure the existing backup infrastructure and set a strategic plan for disaster recovery.

Virtualization

• Provide technical leadership in the design, installation, configuration, and implementation of VMware products and services.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Minimum of eight years of experience engineering solutions and instrumentation for EMC, Hitachi, and Axiom Pillar Storage Area Networks (SAN) for mission-critical, enterprise applications and databases.
• Eight years of experience with Linux Red Hat; RHCE will be an advantage.
• Strong experience with EMC and NetBackup backup products is required.
• Hands-on experience with VMware technologies; VMware Certified Professionals certification is a plus.
