Structural Engineer

Role Overview

Structural Engineer at MIRA Construction, based in the UAE. The ideal candidate will have at least 2–3 years of hands-on structural engineering experience in the UAE, with strong knowledge of structural design, site execution, drawings, inspections and coordination with consultants and contractors.

Role Purpose

To review, monitor and coordinate structural works on site, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements while providing technical support to the construction team and resolving structural issues as they arise during execution.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Review

• Review and interpret structural drawings, specifications and technical documents.
• Review structural calculations, shop drawings and method statements where required.
• Coordinate structural design requirements with architectural, MEP and other disciplines.

Site Monitoring & Quality Assurance

• Monitor structural works at site to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
• Conduct site inspections and identify structural issues or discrepancies.
• Monitor the quality and progress of structural works.
• Ensure structural works are executed in accordance with applicable UAE standards, approved drawings and project specifications.

Coordination & Stakeholder Management

• Coordinate with consultants, contractors and site teams regarding structural works.
• Participate in meetings with consultants, contractors and project stakeholders.
• Coordinate effectively with site teams, consultants and other disciplines.

Issue Resolution & Support

• Identify and resolve structural issues arising during construction.
• Provide technical support to the construction team during execution.

Documentation & Administration

• Assist with preparation and review of RFIs, technical submissions and other project documentation.
• Maintain proper documentation and records related to structural works.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on Structural Engineering experience in the UAE is mandatory.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• Practical knowledge of structural drawings, detailing and site execution.
• Experience coordinating with consultants, contractors and site teams.
• Experience working on residential, commercial or high-rise construction projects in the UAE.
• Experience dealing with UAE consultants and authorities.
• Familiarity with UAE construction standards, specifications and approval procedures.
• UAE engineering accreditation/registration will be an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of reinforced concrete and/or structural steel construction.
• Good knowledge of construction methods and structural engineering principles.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
• Knowledge of structural analysis/design software such as ETABS, SAFE, STAAD.Pro or similar is preferred.
• Ability to identify and resolve structural issues on site.
• Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary construction team.
• Comfortable working in a construction/project environment.
