Role Overview

Kitchen Steward at Apparel Group. The role maintains kitchen and surrounding areas in a clean and sanitary manner by following cleaning schedules and adhering to Health & Hygiene Regulations and Company policy and procedures.

Role Purpose

To maintain the kitchen and surrounding areas in a clean and sanitary manner by following the cleaning schedules and adhering to the Health & Hygiene Regulations and Company policy and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning & Sanitation

• Carry out assigned duties according to cleaning schedules and perform necessary cleaning tasks.
• Clean stoves, ovens, grills, refrigerators using cleaning solutions, brushes and wash cloths.
• Wash utensils such as pots, pans, and trays by hand using cleaning detergents.
• Wash dishware, glasses, and cutlery by hand or machine.
• Occasionally polish utensils.
• Drain, dry and stack items after washing.
• Maintain the required standard of operational hygiene according to cleaning rotas at all times.

Equipment & Materials Management

• Collect appropriate cleaning materials and equipment from the Supervisor.
• Check equipment daily to ensure they are in good working condition.
• Promptly report any defects or malfunctions to the Supervisor or a senior person.

Food & Supply Handling

• Transport food supplies such as meats, vegetables, fruits, and canned foods from storeroom or freezer to kitchen using trolley or basket.
• Return surplus food to storeroom or freezer.
• May assist with food preparation such as blending soups, washing and peeling vegetables and shellfish.

Service Support

• Assist in the set up and break down of service areas for all special functions.

Health, Safety & Security

• Be aware of Restaurant policies and procedures relating to health, hygiene, and fire life safety.
• Familiarize yourself with emergency exits and evacuation procedures.

General Compliance

• Comply with the company's corporate code of conduct.
• Familiarize yourself with the company values and model desired behaviors.
• Perform tasks as directed by Management in pursuit of the achievement of business goals.
