Sr. Technician

Role Overview

Senior Rotating Equipment / Centrifugal Pumps Technician at Petrotec Group. The role supports both workshop and field operations, with primary focus on centrifugal pumps and associated rotating equipment.

Role Purpose

Lead and execute maintenance, repair, overhaul, and service activities on rotating equipment. Diagnose equipment faults, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, ensure compliance with OEM recommendations and quality standards, provide technical guidance to junior personnel, and deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality service solutions in partnership with engineers, supervisors, and customers.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repair Operations

• Perform and lead workshop and site maintenance activities for rotating equipment, primarily centrifugal pumps, including dismantling, inspection, measurement, assembly, testing, installation, and commissioning.
• Execute the installation, removal, overhaul, and replacement of centrifugal pumps and associated rotating equipment at customer sites.
• Plan and prepare equipment, tools, materials, and spare parts to ensure the efficient execution of maintenance and repair activities.
• Perform and verify shaft alignment activities using dial indicators and laser alignment systems in accordance with OEM specifications.

Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

• Diagnose equipment faults, conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate service reports, inspection records, job cards, and maintenance documentation.
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with company procedures, quality standards, OEM recommendations, and HSE requirements.

Tool & Equipment Management

• Ensure the proper use, calibration, maintenance, and storage of tools, measuring instruments, and equipment.

Workplace Standards

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment in both workshop and field locations.

Supervision & Mentorship

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians and support their technical development.
• Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and customers to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality maintenance and service solutions.

QHSE Leadership

• Ensure all team members are aware of, trained in, and compliant with applicable QHSE standards, regulations, and company policies relevant to their work.
• Lead by example in promoting a safety-first culture and actively participate in all QHSE meetings, cascading critical safety and environmental information to the team.
• Take prompt action to correct any unsafe or hazardous conditions and ensure that unresolved issues are escalated appropriately.
• Review and act on QHSE officer/coordinator observations and recommendations in a timely manner.
• Ensure all new team members complete their QHSE induction with the HSE Officer before beginning work.
• Conduct regular reviews of emergency response readiness, including accessibility and usage of PPE and spill kits.
• Monitor team compliance with safety practices, especially among new or less experienced staff, and provide guidance and support where needed.
• Encourage active participation in QHSE programs and ensure that staff are given opportunities to contribute to safety improvements.
• Refer OHSMS Manual, section 4.4.1 for additional HSE roles, responsibilities, accountability, and authority.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma, Technical Certificate, or ITI in Mechanical or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5-10 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance, repair, overhaul, testing, and troubleshooting of centrifugal pumps (API 610), including OH, BB, and Vertical Pump configurations, as well as other rotating equipment.
• Proven experience leading workshop and field service activities, including equipment installation, commissioning, and shutdown maintenance projects.
• Extensive experience performing on-site maintenance and field service operations within the Middle East oil & gas, power, water, or industrial sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor junior technicians while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and OEM standards.

• Good understanding of centrifugal pump operation, components, and basic maintenance principles.
• Knowledge of mechanical seals, bearings, couplings, and lubrication systems.
• Mechanical seals, bearings, and lube systems basic understanding.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly drawings, and technical manuals.

• Ability to dismantle, clean, inspect, and reassemble rotating equipment in accordance with standard procedures and OEM guidelines.

• Ability to perform equipment inspections, functional checks, and record test results accurately.
• Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
• Skilled in completing maintenance checklists, service reports, and job documentation.
• Understanding proper handling, protection, storage, and preservation of equipment components and spare parts.
