Sr Civil & Transportation Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Civil & Transportation Engineer at HILL International. This is a 5-month project engagement.

Role Purpose

Provide expert guidance and technical reviews across multidisciplinary engineering disciplines—transportation, drainage, structural, and geotechnical—ensuring all designs meet the highest standards, regulations, and project requirements throughout development stages.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Review & Design Evaluation

• Conduct technical reviews of highway, roadway, and interchange designs for compliance with Saudi Highway Code (SHC), MOT standards, and international best practices.
• Review design reports, drawings, calculations, and technical studies, providing constructive feedback and recommendations.
• Coordinate and evaluate multidisciplinary engineering submissions, including transportation, drainage, structural, and traffic engineering packages.
• Evaluate road structures such as bridges, retaining walls, and underpasses for safety and structural integrity.
• Review drainage systems, hydraulic studies, and stormwater management solutions, ensuring sustainable and effective water management.

Constructability & Feasibility Assessment

• Support constructability reviews and assess designs for construction feasibility, identifying potential challenges and proposing solutions.

Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination

• Engage with design consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and alignment with project goals.
• Assist with permitting processes, authority coordination, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring smooth project progression.

Project Strategy & Quality Assurance

• Participate in technical workshops, design reviews, and risk assessments, contributing to the overall project strategy.
• Monitor consultant performance and maintain high standards of design output, adhering to project schedules and quality expectations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (Master's Degree in Transportation Engineering preferred).
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in transportation and highway engineering, with a strong track record in major infrastructure projects.
• Experience in reviewing multidisciplinary engineering designs, with solid understanding of utility coordination and interfaces.
• Familiarity with PMC, client, or design consultancy environments.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in Highway Design, Traffic Engineering, Drainage & Hydrology, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Road Safety Engineering.
• Proficiency in engineering software: Civil 3D, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, MicroStation, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges.
• Ability to work effectively in diverse teams.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with industry advancements and best practices.

Additional Information

• Valid Saudi driving license required.
• Ability to travel within the region as required by project needs.
