Role Overview
Software & Hardware Test Engineer at Dyson, supporting the development and execution of embedded software testing and quality assurance.
Company Overview
Dyson's Software Test & Quality Assurance team ensures products represent the high quality and reliability of the Dyson brand using world-class automated testing techniques. The team simulates product elements, uses image recognition and advanced technologies for automatic identification of user interface elements, and maintains quality during Scaled Agile Framework development. Labs support unattended testing of partial to full products, including moving robots, enabling remote work.
Role Purpose
To support the development and execution of test cases for embedded software applications, contributing to functional, integration, and regression testing under the supervision of senior engineers while learning and applying automated testing methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Support the development and execution of test cases for embedded software applications.
- Perform functional, integration, and regression testing of embedded software systems under senior engineer supervision.
- Contribute to exploratory and reliability testing of embedded software.
- Participate in code reviews to gain insights into testability and test coverage.
Automation & Tooling
- Learn to create and run automated test scripts using various tools and frameworks.
- Build experience with automated testing frameworks and tools.
Defect Management
- Assist in identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects.
- Help troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Process & Compliance
- Follow established software testing processes and methodologies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Currently pursuing or have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and techniques.
- Some experience or coursework in automated testing frameworks and tools.
- Familiarity with programming languages commonly used in testing embedded systems (e.g., Python, Java).
- Exposure to real-time operating systems (RTOS) and device drivers is a plus.
