Role Purpose
Design and develop structural systems for buildings and infrastructure projects while ensuring compliance with local authority requirements and industry standards. Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions that meet client requirements and maintain the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Design and develop structural systems for buildings projects, ensuring compliance with local authority design requirements and industry standards.
- Undertake the design of water-retaining structures, building structures, steelwork, and related infrastructure.
- Review and provide input on engineering designs, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions that meet client requirements.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including MEP, Architecture, and Utilities.
- Build positive relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
Leadership & Team Development
- Manage and mentor junior engineers and BIM technicians to ensure successful project execution.
- Lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
- Promote knowledge-sharing and professional excellence within the team.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure quality assurance and quality control procedures are followed throughout project execution.
- Deliver successful outcomes with a focus on safety, quality, and innovation.
Project Management
- Manage project budgets and schedules.
- Deliver projects that blend technical excellence, sustainability, and commercial success.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or structural engineering (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on design of building structures.
- Proven track record in the design of buildings and civil engineering or infrastructure-related structures, in reinforced concrete and structural steelwork.
- Professional engineering license or equivalent certification preferred.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams with responsibility for coordination with MEP, Architecture, and Utilities.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in structural analysis software including SAP2000, ETABS, and STAAD.Pro.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) tools.
- Experience working within a 3D design environment.
- Ability to work to BIM protocols.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English (Arabic language skills advantageous).
- Knowledge of practices and procedures used within retail, commercial, and/or industrial sectors (advantageous).
