Elseco was founded two decades ago, initially launching Space insurance, and has since diversified into Aviation, Accident & Health, and Energy insurance. The company employs around 120 professionals and is regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority. The company's latest evolution centers on technology platform development, specifically "ATOM," which is business critical to the company's future success and growth plans.

Role Purpose

To strengthen and build robust processes on underwriting and claims within the Space team across Dubai and London by providing expert technical analysis, database management, risk assessment, and claims support while promoting the elseco brand in the space insurance market.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Analysis & Assessment

• Perform technical analysis of platform and payload specifications for new and renewal incoming insurance placements, with emphasis on communication and observation payloads.
• Analyze and perform sensitivity testing of space insurance policy loss criteria.
• Support the Claims Manager in analyzing the technical aspects of failure and impact to the policy.
• Participate in end-to-end risk review, including policy wording analysis, pricing adequacy, satellite health report review, historical loss ratio analysis, and line size determination.
• Perform calculations of all space claims within the parameters of the loss criteria.

Data Management & Systems

• Develop and maintain the elseco proprietary space technical database to ensure accuracy and integrity of data.
• Capture space risk data in ATOM (proprietary system) and conduct analysis.
• Contribute to acquisition and entry of all relevant space risk data in the ATOM platform.
• Use elseco database and relevant third-party databases to develop models and statistics on Space risks.

Risk & Underwriting Operations

• Participate in Risk Assessment, including but not limited to New Business, Renewals, and endorsements to current policies, always working within the Underwriting Authority agreement framework and the Underwriters.
• Issue quotes in line with Delegated Authority rules and internal processes.

Stakeholder & Market Engagement

• Attend technical briefings and market meetings as and when required.
• Draft technical questions and prepare summaries.
• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients.
• Promote the elseco brand at all times and cross collaborate across the organization.
• Promote the brand in the space industry and insurance market, including content production and participation in conferences, roadshows, and market events.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree educated in Aerospace, Payload Engineering, or related field.
• 8–10 years of experience in satellite manufacturing, predominantly on payload system design and engineering.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft software applications.
• Demonstrated experience and interest in automated processes and systems.
