Role Overview

Senior Software Test Manager at Dyson. This is a leadership position based on the company's software testing and quality assurance function, responsible for defining quality strategy and building high-performing teams across embedded software, app, IoT, and cloud platforms.

The team simulates product elements to test all scenarios, uses image recognition and advanced technologies for automatic UI element identification, and maintains quality during Scaled Agile Framework development. Labs support unattended testing of partial to full products, including moving robots, enabling remote work.

Role Purpose

Own the quality and verification strategy across embedded software, app, IoT, and cloud platforms. Build and develop high-performing Test & QA teams while providing technical direction for complex multi-platform testing. Drive innovation in automation, simulation, and AI-enabled test methods, and represent Test & QA in program governance to influence release decisions with strong quality evidence.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

• Own and define the quality and verification strategy across embedded software, app, IoT, and cloud platforms.
• Build and develop high-performing Test & QA teams and coach Test & QA Leads and Managers.
• Drive innovation in HIL automation, simulation, data-driven testing, and AI-enabled test methods.
• Shape long-term testing capability and lead transformation in automation and test methods.

Technical Direction

• Provide technical direction for system, integration, protocol, connectivity, security, and compliance testing.
• Provide technical direction for test architecture and automation test strategy for complex multi-platform systems.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards: security, RF, Matter, safety, and market regulations.
• Stay updated on the latest automation testing strategies, techniques, tools, and frameworks.

Governance & Quality Oversight

• Represent Test & QA in program governance and influence release decisions with strong quality evidence.
• Oversee quality metrics, dashboards, and analytics for defect trends, maturity, and reliability insights.

Collaboration & Communication

• Collaborate with project managers, design managers, and architects on test plan, strategy, and budget.
• Report project test progress and software quality status to senior stakeholders and ensure clear communication across teams.
• Present complex technical information clearly to executives and non-technical leaders.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics, Software Engineering, or similar.
• 15+ years in software, embedded, IoT, app, or cloud testing.
• 7+ years managing Test & QA teams.
• Proven experience managing electronic hardware and software quality for large-scale, multi-platform consumer products.
• Experience with the full electronic hardware and software development and test lifecycle.
• Experience with Agile development and test processes.

Technical Skills

• Strong technical depth in automation (Python, C, Kotlin, Swift).
• Expertise in CI/CD pipelines.
• Expertise in protocol testing (BLE, Wi-Fi, MQTT).
• Expertise in embedded testing and API testing.
• Expertise in mobile test frameworks.
• Skilled in using test tools such as protocol analyzers, device sniffers, simulators, mobile app and cloud test utilities.
• Expertise in automated testing, requirements analysis, test framework design, development, and debugging for embedded software and IoT systems.

• Data-driven mindset with experience in dashboards, observability, and quality analytics.
• Strong systems thinking across embedded, electrical, mechanical, cloud, and app ecosystems.
