Senior Simulator Software Engineer (C/C++)

Role Overview

Senior Simulator Software Engineer (C/C++) at CAE, located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Play a critical role in keeping cutting-edge flight training technology operational at Riyadh Air's new training centre.

Role Purpose

This is a highly technical, hands-on role where you will take ownership of software configuration control, diagnose and resolve complex software and hardware issues, develop and integrate system improvements, and contribute to simulator performance and certification activities.

Key Responsibilities

Flight Simulator & Training Device Support

• Support Flight Simulator Training Devices and Cabin Crew Training Devices as the point of contact for complex issues involving software, hardware, and performance-QTG.
• Lead and offer technical support and on-the-job training to fellow engineers and technicians.
• Undertake short-term dispatch on AOG (Aircraft on Ground) situations.

Software Configuration Control

• Own Software Configuration Control on all training devices.
• Debug, identify, and actively participate in solving complex issues involving software, hardware, and performance-QTG.
• Develop, implement, test, integrate, and present fixes from local sources and CAE-MTL on all simulators.
• Monitor simulator issues and action/update issues assigned to specialists.

Project & Technical Review

• Participate in project reviews as required.
• Review system design and architecture to ensure it meets project and customer requirements.
• Provide support to the CAE-MTL team during installation in terms of software integration, performance-QTG, and hardware requirements.
• Participate in the acceptance process and review and acceptance of the initial Master QTG.

Regulatory & Authority Liaison

• Serve as the main point of contact for relevant authorities for recurrent evaluations, post-evaluation status reports, and general authority-related communications.

Stakeholder Coordination & Meetings

• Participate in regular technical meetings, NAA evaluation debrief meetings, and SLA review meetings with CAE upper management and the customer.
• Interact and work closely with customers, engineers, and authorities.
• Coordinate with CAE Customer Service to follow up on business-critical issues.
• Support Service Level Agreements within the Middle East Region, with possible international travel.

Health & Safety

• Comply with local and global CAE Environmental Health & Safety standards, instructions, and safe working procedures.
• Exercise duty of care for own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your work.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Minimum of seven to ten years of related experience.
• Experience with Qualification Test Guide.
• Demonstrated experience with local and international regulations (EASA, FAA, etc) as they pertain to FSTDs.

Skills & Competencies

Programming & Development Tools

• Knowledge of C, C++, and FORTRAN programming languages and scripting languages (Perl).
• Knowledge of Microsoft development tools for Windows platform (Visual Studio 6.0 and higher).
• Advanced working knowledge of Programming Language(s), Software and System Architecture, and Software Development tools and utilities.

CAE Software & Systems

• Knowledge of CAE software and applications including but not limited to CAELIB, STARTEAM, Strive framework, Visual Systems, SIM XXI, Simfinity, Launchpad, and ITMS.
• Knowledge of simulated systems and instruments/avionics interface including but not limited to SIM XXI, CAE R3, R4, and R5 technology and 7000 XR.
• Advanced working knowledge of Operating system(s) and Software configuration and Management Tools.

Technical & Analytical

• Ability to troubleshoot and debug integrated systems.
• Good knowledge of Windows Environment and PC hardware.
• Good knowledge of simulated systems and the interface with Aircraft instruments and avionics.
• Good knowledge of Flight Aerodynamics.
• Good understanding of the relevant Configuration Management and Control process.
