Senior Safety Officer ( Oil & Gas industry )

Role Overview

Senior Safety Officer at ABIS in the oil and gas industry. This role is responsible for ensuring the highest safety standards and compliance within oil and gas operations.

Role Purpose

Implement safety policies, conduct risk assessments, monitor safety procedures, and lead safety training initiatives to minimize workplace hazards and incidents. Collaborate closely with project teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies to promote a safe working environment and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

Policy & Program Development

• Develop and enforce safety policies, procedures, and programs specific to the oil and gas industry for shutdown and turnaround operations.
• Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the organization.

Inspections, Audits & Assessments

• Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.

Incident Management

• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Training & Awareness

• Deliver safety training and awareness programs to employees and contractors.

Compliance & Reporting

• Maintain accurate safety records and prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies.

Advisory & Emergency Planning

• Advise management on safety matters and participate in emergency response planning.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in safety roles within the oil and gas industry.
• Strong knowledge of industry safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
