Senior Process Engineer (Oil and Gas, EPC, Midstream)

Role Overview

Senior Process Engineer with NOV in the oil and gas industry (EPC, Midstream sector). This role requires 10 to 15 years of relevant experience, fluency in process design and software, and demonstrated site experience.

Role Purpose

Lead process engineering activities on capital projects by providing technical expertise in process design, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring all deliverables meet technical standards, scope, budget, schedule, and compliance requirements while maintaining strong cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Process Design & Engineering

• Execute Feasibility Studies, Conceptual Design, and Process Studies.
• Develop and assist other process engineers in key design documents including Heat & Material Balance, PFD, P&ID, and DataSheets.
• Demonstrate fluency with process software including Hysys, FlareNet, and ProMax.
• Apply knowledge of Line Hydraulics (Line Sizing, Pumps, Control Valves), PSV sizing, blowdown, and Equipment Sizing.
• Provide appropriate process engineering input to design activities undertaken by other inter-discipline engineering within the project team.

Technical Review & Governance

• Act as representative in Technical Design Reviews including P&ID, HAZOP, SIL, HAZID, client, and vendor meetings.
• Ensure deliverables are technically accurate, within scope, budget and schedule, and in compliance with quality procedures and project plans.
• Adept at writing technical reports, scopes of work, and Technical Queries.

Stakeholder & Cross-Discipline Collaboration

• Coordinate and collaborate with process lead and Discipline manager to determine project objectives for the process team.
• Interface with other disciplines, vendors, and required parties on process engineering matters.
• Communicate, integrate, and cooperate with other disciplines to achieve common goals.

Leadership & Mentorship

• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior process engineers to ensure they succeed in assigned tasks.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers.
• Follow-up activities within the process group and assist/guide junior process engineers to fulfill process tasks.

Project Execution & Continuous Improvement

• Experience assisting project engineering leads and managers in project design and execution according to contract and client needs.
• Execute projects according to PEM (Project Execution Methodology).
• Recognize problems and discrepancies in work process and suggest improvements and request help when needed.
• Work closely with Process lead to align strategic decisions with planning activities and delegate and follow up work assigned to other process engineers.

Team Collaboration

• Contribute to the process team to create a good working environment and strong team spirit.
• Work closely with process team members and process lead within the project to ensure quality of process documents and deliveries.

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality

• Comply with Company values and QA System.
• Responsible for process design that will operate safely and adhere to NOV HSE and Quality requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of HSE and Quality within the project and everyday office environment.

Budget & Financial Accountability

• Responsible for completion of tasks and ensures that process engineering deliverables are within allowable budget and time agreed in the contract.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor Degree or Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in oil and gas industry (Midstream) in EPC.
• Fluency in process design.
• Fluency in process software.
• Site experience.
• Experience and good knowledge of Package Designs including Gas Dehydration and Sweetening units and Crude Oil Treatment.
• Additional technical studies and project management experience are an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

Technical

• Strong chemical engineering basis.
• Good knowledge of industry standards such as API, Shell DEP, Saudi ARAMCO, and ADNOC standards.
• Good knowledge of package design including Gas treatment, oil treatment, and produced water treatment.
• Familiar with the principles of safe process engineering design.
• Familiar with PEM (Project Execution Methodology).
