Senior Piping Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Piping Engineer at Wood PLC, based in Muscat, Oman, for a one-year assignment duration. You will join the Projects team to deliver across FEED and Detail design scopes of work.

Role Purpose

Execute activities and processes associated with Mechanical and Piping Engineering at the NGLE Project under TL scope. Apply and expand hands-on experience in Engineering, Procurement, Construction, commissioning and Operation in the Oil and Gas industry while supporting and executing general engineering activities directly linked to Mechanical Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering Standards

• Apply Mechanical Engineering piping practices, standards, and design codes in similar projects.
• Challenge project design assumptions and strive to bring more value to the project through value engineering.
• Provide innovative solutions to overcome project challenges including cost and schedule while maintaining compliance to design codes.

Design Development & Review

• Lead piping engineering design experience across different project phases (FEED and EPC).
• Assist Mechanical engineers in delivering and reviewing engineering deliverables.
• Compile information from contractor reports; evaluate and analyze compiled information using Mechanical Engineering standards and codes.
• Provide directions and actively participate in engineering reviews and meetings; take lead when required.
• Coordinate, prepare, and record engineering reviews as assigned by the Lead Mechanical Engineering Static.
• Follow up on the turnover of Mechanical engineering documents.

Procurement & Equipment

• Participate in equipment selection and procurement process.

Site & Inspection Activities

• Attend workshops and site inspections of Mechanical facilities as the plan permits.
• Attend FAT and SAT of equipment as required.
• Inspect project site to monitor HSE, progress, and ensure conformance to design specifications and project standards.

Meetings & Documentation

• Contribute to recording meetings and discussions.
• Prepare and deliver presentations on certain subjects as the project develops.

General Duties

• Perform other relevant duties as requested from time to time.

Qualifications & Experience

• 15+ years in a relevant position.
• Engineering degree in Mechanical with relevant certification.
• Piping Engineering experience in downstream-based petrochemical industry.
• Experience in refinery and petrochemical projects preferred.
• Experience in Onshore Oil and Gas preferred.

• Project phase execution across FEED and EPC delivery models.
