Role Overview

Senior Piping Engineer – Offshore FEED Project with KBR, based in Abu Dhabi. KBR is expanding its Project Management Consultancy team for a high-profile offshore development with ADNOC.

Role Purpose

The Senior Piping Engineer is responsible for executing and coordinating piping engineering and design activities for ADNOC Offshore FEED projects. The role involves developing piping layouts, material specifications, technical studies, and engineering deliverables for offshore oil and gas facilities while ensuring compliance with ADNOC Offshore standards, project specifications, international codes, and HSE requirements. The successful candidate will support the design and optimization of offshore process facilities, ensuring safe, reliable, maintainable, and cost-effective piping systems throughout the FEED phase.

Key Responsibilities

Piping Engineering & Design

  • Perform piping engineering activities for offshore FEED projects.
  • Develop and review Piping Design Basis documents.
  • Develop and review Piping Material Specifications (PMS).
  • Develop and review Pipe Class Specifications.
  • Develop and review Line Designation Tables.
  • Develop and review Piping General Arrangement (GA) Drawings.
  • Develop and review Plot Plans and Equipment Layouts.
  • Develop and review Piping Layout Drawings.
  • Develop and review Material Requisitions.
  • Develop and review Valve Specifications.
  • Develop and review Material Take-Offs (MTO).
  • Develop and review Line Lists.
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards and project specifications.
  • Support development of safe, operable, and maintainable piping layouts.

FEED Engineering Deliverables

  • Prepare and review FEED deliverables related to piping design.
  • Assist in the development of Piping Philosophies.
  • Assist in the development of Design Criteria.
  • Assist in the development of Layout Studies.
  • Assist in the development of Tie-In Packages.
  • Assist in the development of Constructability Reviews.
  • Assist in the development of Engineering Reports.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are completed within project schedules and quality requirements.
  • Support scope definition and cost estimation activities.

Piping Layout & Routing

  • Develop piping layouts considering offshore space constraints.
  • Develop piping layouts considering equipment accessibility.
  • Develop piping layouts considering maintenance requirements.
  • Develop piping layouts considering safety and escape routes.
  • Develop piping layouts considering modularization requirements.
  • Develop piping layouts considering weight optimization.
  • Participate in 3D model reviews and layout optimization workshops.
  • Coordinate piping routing with process, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.

Piping Materials Engineering

  • Review and apply material selection requirements for Carbon Steel.
  • Review and apply material selection requirements for Low-Temperature Carbon Steel.
  • Review and apply material selection requirements for Stainless Steel.
  • Review and apply material selection requirements for Duplex & Super Duplex Stainless Steel.
  • Review and apply material selection requirements for Nickel Alloys.
  • Review and apply material selection requirements for GRE/GRP Systems.
  • Ensure material suitability for process conditions, corrosion control, and design life requirements.
  • Support corrosion studies and material selection reviews.

Stress Analysis Coordination

  • Identify stress-critical piping systems.
  • Coordinate with piping stress engineers on Flexibility Analysis.
  • Coordinate with piping stress engineers on Thermal Expansion Studies.
  • Coordinate with piping stress engineers on Support Design.
  • Coordinate with piping stress engineers on Sustained and Occasional Load Assessments.
  • Coordinate with piping stress engineers on Vibration Assessments.
  • Review stress analysis inputs and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with piping stress and mechanical integrity requirements.

Offshore & Brownfield Projects

  • Support design of piping systems for Wellhead Platforms.
  • Support design of piping systems for Process Platforms.
  • Support design of piping systems for Utility Platforms.
  • Support design of piping systems for Gas Compression Facilities.
  • Support design of piping systems for Water Injection Facilities.
  • Support design of piping systems for Produced Water Facilities.
  • Support design of piping systems for Central Processing Facilities (CPF).
  • Participate in brownfield modifications and revamp projects.
  • Review tie-in requirements, shutdown studies, and constructability constraints.
  • Support offshore site surveys when required.

Vendor & Package Engineering

  • Review vendor package piping requirements and interfaces.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors for Pumps.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors for Compressors.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors for Pressure Vessels.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors for Heat Exchangers.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors for Gas Turbines.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors for Utility Packages.
  • Review vendor drawings, nozzle orientations, and piping interface requirements.
  • Participate in technical bid evaluations and vendor clarification meetings.

Safety & Risk Management

  • Participate in HAZID Studies.
  • Participate in HAZOP Reviews.
  • Participate in Constructability Workshops.
  • Participate in SIMOPS Reviews.
  • Participate in Model Reviews.
  • Ensure piping arrangements meet process safety and operational requirements.
  • Promote inherently safer design principles.

Multidisciplinary Coordination

  • Coordinate with Process Engineering.
  • Coordinate with Mechanical Engineering.
  • Coordinate with Structural Engineering.
  • Coordinate with Civil Engineering.
  • Coordinate with Electrical Engineering.
  • Coordinate with Instrumentation & Control Engineering.
  • Coordinate with Pipeline Engineering.
  • Coordinate with HSE Engineering.
  • Interface with ADNOC Offshore, PMC consultants, licensors, EPC contractors, and vendors.
  • Participate in project meetings, model reviews, and technical workshops.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering discipline.
  • Master's Degree is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 15 years of piping engineering experience in Oil & Gas projects.
  • Minimum 5 years of ADNOC Offshore project experience.
  • Proven experience in FEED and Detailed Engineering phases.
  • Strong experience in Offshore Oil & Gas Facilities.
  • Strong experience in Greenfield Developments.
  • Strong experience in Brownfield Modifications.
  • Strong experience in Process Plant Piping Systems.
