Role Overview

Senior Officer BHS Contracts at Abu Dhabi Airports. The role oversees technical vendor performance, system availability, baggage delivery timelines, and compliance of the Baggage Handling System (BHS), ensuring effective planning and management of BHS resources across arrivals and departures facilities while maintaining operational efficiency, stakeholder satisfaction, and airport service quality.

Role Purpose

Oversee the Baggage Handling System operations to maintain uninterrupted baggage flow, technical performance, and regulatory compliance. Implement contingency and business continuity measures, coordinate maintenance activities, and lead teams to support safe and efficient airport operations.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

• Lead and manage the team of BHS Operations & Maintenance Supervisors and Control Room Operators to achieve departmental objectives.
• Oversee and manage day-to-day BHS operations.
• Ensure optimal performance, reliability, and availability of the BHS system.
• Monitor shift teams and provide regular performance feedback to team members.

Performance Reporting & Stakeholder Communication

• Provide accurate and timely BHS operational and system performance information to stakeholders.
• Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and system breakdown reports and statistics to management.
• Participate in operational meetings and provide updates on BHS performance and baggage operations.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with ADA Airports policies, procedures, applicable standards, and legal regulations.
• Report and escalate non-conformities to BHS Management and relevant stakeholders when required.
• Comply with Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Report hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-conformities promptly.

Resource & Asset Optimization

• Monitor, record, and optimize BHS resource utilization.
• Conduct regular inspections of BHS facilities and baggage operation areas to ensure operational safety and compliance.

Maintenance & Continuity Planning

• Develop, schedule, and oversee preventive maintenance plans.
• Ensure timely completion of maintenance activities and smooth handover for operational continuity.
• Manage major operational issues and implement contingency procedures in accordance with the Business Continuity Plan (BCP).

Incident & Issue Resolution

• Identify, mitigate, and resolve operational issues affecting performance.
• Manage operational incidents and Irregular Operations (IROPS) while coordinating with stakeholders to maintain seamless operations.

Health, Safety & Environment

• Participate in HSE training programs and promote safe and environmentally responsible work practices.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent technical education.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Baggage System Operations and Ramp Operations.
• Sound understanding of contract administration.
• Sound understanding of SLA and KPI monitoring.
• Sound understanding of commercial documentation.
• Sound understanding of change control processes.
• Sound understanding of invoice verification.
• Sound understanding of risk tracking.
• Sound understanding of stakeholder coordination within a safety-critical operational environment.
• Knowledge of GCAA regulations and IATA procedures related to baggage operations.
• Familiarity with local and international aviation laws, regulations, and operational requirements.
