Role Overview

Senior Manager – Safety at QNB in Doha, Qatar. The incumbent is responsible for implementing departmental safety programs, conducting inspections and safety training, managing safety systems operations, and ensuring safety procedures and guidelines comply with requirements across the Group's international assets, properties and staff.

Role Purpose

The role exists to ensure the safety and security of all QNB Group premises, equipment, electrical and mechanical systems, and staff across international locations. The position leads the implementation and compliance of safety systems, procedures, and guidelines while managing relationships with internal departments and external safety providers to maintain the highest standards and leading practices.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Program Development

  • Implement KPIs and best practices for Safety.
  • Prepare the safety program for each year (routine) for all electrical and mechanical equipment in all Group premises.
  • Collect requirements, prepare design for safety layout, obtain quotes and ensure implementation of integrated security system for new Branches.
  • Anticipate customers' needs and continuously revisit safety procedures to ensure offering the best standards and leading practice.
  • Review and provide guidance and assistance as required on safety systems and system maintenance contracts for International Branches and subsidiaries.
  • Provide guidance and training to safety personnel in International branches on the use of preventive safety equipment.

Operations & Maintenance

  • Supervise routine, scheduled and emergency safety of all equipment and electrical and mechanical systems necessary for efficient QNB operations.
  • Prepare the schedule of tasks for the safety team for day-to-day operations.
  • Prepare safety and quality assurance checklist and schedule of safety visits for bank premises.
  • Conduct safety checks to ensure safety equipment are functional, such as fire alarm and firefighting systems.
  • Coordinate and monitor maintenance performed where external service providers are used.
  • Coordinate with safety maintenance company on safety issues and to derive appropriate solutions.
  • Verify and ensure the record of all security equipment delivered to Branches and monitor the maintenance cost accordingly.
  • Follow up and assist if required in conducting Fire Drill and safety check-ups to ensure the premises and staff are well aware of Evacuation procedures and safety policies.

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure that all QNB Group premises are safe.
  • Ensure compliance with all QNB policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all safety requirements are maintained.
  • Ensure implementation and compliance of safety policies and procedures in all QNB Group International premises.
  • Coordinate with Branches and offices to ensure compliance of safety procedures and periodic maintenance of safety equipment.

Stakeholder Management & Service Delivery

  • Manage the provision of safety services to all QNB departments, as and when required.
  • Coordinate and manage the relationship with external safety companies.
  • Encourage and guide people in exceeding set standards.
  • Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with related departments and units to achieve the Group's objectives.
  • Maintain activities in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal departments and units to achieve improvements in turn-around time.
  • Identify emerging customer service problems and opportunities and provide workable solutions.
  • Assist customers in all their queries on Bank's product and seek solution to their requests.

Financial Management

  • Promote cost consciousness and efficiency and enhance productivity to minimise cost, avoid waste, and optimise benefits for the bank.
  • Act within the limits of the powers delegated to the incumbent.
  • Coordinate with the Purchasing Department for the purchase and requisition of any safety equipment and parts as required.
  • Receive higher approval of works where required and coordinate with the Purchasing Department to obtain quotes.
  • Scrutinize all invoices for routine safety works, equipment and other maintenance works and forward them to concerned parties.

Governance & Reporting

  • Conduct initial investigation of offenses and report findings to the AVP Safety for International Branches and subsidiaries.
  • Provide timely and accurate data to external and internal Auditors, Compliance, Financial Control and Risk when required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • University graduate with Safety and Security certifications.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience, preferably within a highly rated international bank.
