Role Overview
Senior Hardware & Software Test Engineer at Dyson, supporting the development and execution of test cases for embedded software applications across the organization's product range.
Company Overview
Dyson's Software Test & Quality Assurance function ensures products represent the high quality and reliability of the Dyson brand through world-class automated testing techniques. The team simulates product elements to test all scenarios, uses image recognition and advanced technologies for automatic identification of user interface elements, and maintains quality through the Scaled Agile Framework development process. Labs enable unattended testing of partial to full products, including moving robots, allowing remote work.
Role Purpose
To support the development and execution of comprehensive test cases for embedded software applications, ensuring functional integrity, reliability, and quality through both manual and automated testing methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Perform functional, integration, and regression testing of embedded software systems under the supervision of senior engineers.
- Support the development and execution of test cases for embedded software applications.
- Contribute to exploratory and reliability testing of embedded software.
- Learn to create and run automated test scripts using various tools and frameworks.
Defect Management & Troubleshooting
- Assist in identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects.
- Help in troubleshooting and resolving issues.
Governance & Process
- Follow established software testing processes and methodologies.
- Participate in code reviews to gain insights into testability and test coverage.
Qualifications & Experience
- Currently pursuing or have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and techniques.
- Some experience or coursework in automated testing frameworks and tools.
- Familiarity with programming languages commonly used in testing embedded systems (e.g., Python, Java).
- Exposure to real-time operating systems (RTOS) and device drivers is a plus.
