Senior Engineer - ICT / Security

Role Overview

Senior Engineer - ICT / Security Systems at WSP Middle East. This role oversees the installation and delivery of ICT, ELV and Security Systems on major construction projects, ensuring compliance with approved designs, technical specifications, quality standards, and client requirements.

Role Purpose

Provide technical supervision and engineering oversight of ICT, ELV, and Security Systems installations on construction projects. Ensure all works execute according to approved specifications, international standards, and client requirements through design review, site inspection, testing witness, and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Documentation Review

• Review and approve shop drawings, technical submittals, material submittals, and design documentation related to ICT, security and ELV systems.
• Review Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, testing procedures, and quality documentation.
• Review and provide technical comments on contractor method statements, particularly for structured cabling and fibre optic installation works.

Site Supervision and Inspection

• Monitor site activities to ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and relevant international standards.
• Conduct site inspections and witness testing and commissioning activities for systems including Structured Cabling Systems, Fibre Optic Networks, CCTV and Video Surveillance Systems, Access Control Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, Public Address Systems, Intercom Systems, Network and Telecommunications Infrastructure, and Integrated Security Systems.
• Supervise the installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of ICT, ELV, and Security Systems on construction projects.

Quality and Compliance Verification

• Verify that installed systems comply with project specifications, authority requirements, and applicable industry standards.
• Monitor quality, safety, and progress of ICT/ELV works and provide regular reports to project leadership.

Coordination and Issue Resolution

• Coordinate with contractors, specialist vendors, design teams, and client representatives to resolve technical issues and maintain project progress.
• Review RFIs, NCRs, and technical queries, providing timely recommendations and resolutions.

Project Closeout

• Support project closeout activities, including review of testing records, as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and handover documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 13 years of experience in ICT/ELV engineering.
• At least 7 years in construction supervision or PMC/consultancy environments.
• Strong experience in reviewing ICT, ELV and Security System designs, shop drawings, submittals, ITPs, and method statements.
• Demonstrated experience on major building, mixed-use, commercial, hospitality, infrastructure, or data centre projects.
• GCC experience is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Sound knowledge of Structured Cabling Systems, ICT Infrastructure, CCTV, Access Control, Security Systems, Fibre Optic Networks, Public Address Systems, and Telecom Systems.
• Familiarity with international standards such as TIA/EIA, BICSI, IEC, NFPA, and relevant local authority requirements.
• Strong technical review and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong stakeholder management and reporting skills.
