Role Overview

Senior Cloud and DevOps Engineer - Azure Applications at BlackStone eIT. Own Azure application environments, deployment automation, monitoring and operational reliability for digital platforms.

Role Purpose

Configure, deploy, monitor and operate production Azure application environments. Work with Technical Support and security teams to deliver reliable, secure and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure for web applications, APIs, CMS and supporting services.

Key Responsibilities

Azure Environments

• Configure and maintain development, UAT and production environments for web applications, APIs, CMS and supporting services.

Deployment Automation

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Next.js, React, Node.js, .NET and Strapi applications.
• Implement deployment checks, approval controls, rollback procedures and release traceability.

Infrastructure as Code

• Maintain repeatable infrastructure configuration, version-controlled changes and environment consistency.

Monitoring and Reliability

• Establish application health checks, logs, dashboards and actionable alerts.
• Investigate production incidents.
• Demonstrate incident diagnosis, root-cause analysis and recovery-testing.

Performance and Capacity

• Assess application scaling, resource utilization and availability requirements.
• Implement agreed improvements.

Cloud Cost Management

• Monitor expenditure and identify waste.
• Recommend capacity and configuration changes.

Identity and Secrets

• Configure application identities, access controls, certificates and secrets management in coordination with security owners.

Recovery

• Coordinate application and database backup requirements with Technical Support.
• Validate restoration and recovery procedures.

Operational Documentation

• Maintain environment inventories, deployment guides, runbooks and knowledge transfer.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years in cloud and DevOps engineering.
• At least 3 years operating production applications on Azure.
• Microsoft Azure Administrator or DevOps Engineer certification preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong experience with Azure App Service, Functions, Storage/Blob, Key Vault, Azure Monitor and Application Insights.
• API Management and Service Bus experience preferred.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure DevOps Pipelines or GitHub Actions, including secure deployment and rollback.
• Practical experience with Terraform or Bicep.
• Experience deploying and troubleshooting Node.js, Next.js, .NET and headless CMS applications.
• Practical Docker experience; Kubernetes experience preferred where relevant.
• Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash or Python for operational automation.
• Understanding of Microsoft Entra ID, managed identities, RBAC, DNS, TLS, private endpoints and application connectivity.
• Experience supporting deployment and connectivity for SQL Server and PostgreSQL, including coordination of backup and recovery.
• Ability to coordinate developers, vendors, Technical Support and security teams with clear operational ownership.
