Role Purpose

Help students enhance their personal, social, and academic growth and well-being through counselling, therapeutic intervention, preventive development, and direct support for behavioural, social, and personal challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Student Development & Counselling

• Deliver therapeutic intervention based on individual student needs.
• Emphasize preventive and developmental counselling to equip students with life skills to address problems early.
• Help students understand and manage social, behavioural, and personal challenges.
• Help students develop job search skills, including resume writing and interviewing techniques.

Monitoring & Assessment

• Monitor the progress of individual students.
• Identify cases of domestic abuse and other family problems that may affect student development.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Contact parents to discuss student behaviour and support needs.
• Provide referral to external services as needed.

Safety & Wellbeing

• Take steps to prevent bullying and support victims of bullying.
• Provide special services such as conflict resolution classes.

Qualifications & Experience

• DCD License as School Counsellor.
• Bachelor of Counselling.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in school counselling or other counselling experience.

Skills & Competencies

• Appropriate license to carry out student counselling.
• Strong interpersonal skills with both students and parents.
• Demonstrable organizational skills.
• Strong desire to help others and ability to inspire respect, trust, and confidence.
• High emotional and physical energy to handle the array of problems addressed.
• Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism.
