Role Overview

Sales Manager (EBC) at Marriott International. This regional role leads and manages sales functions for properties within the region, with a focus on building long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of property sales objectives.

Role Purpose

Lead sales activities across regional properties to maximize revenue through targeted account development, team leadership, and exceptional customer service. Achieve personal booking goals while guiding direct reports toward their objectives and maintaining brand integrity.

Key Responsibilities

Driving Sales Opportunities to Maximize Revenue

  • Conduct targeted account research to determine potential.
  • Solicit and qualify existing and new accounts whose business opportunities meet company criteria.
  • Identify, qualify and solicit new group business to achieve personal revenue goals while maintaining brand integrity.
  • Understand competitors' strengths and weaknesses and sell against them effectively.
  • Provide positive and aggressive leadership to ensure maximum revenue potential through personal booking goal achievement.
  • Recommend booking goals for sales team members for properties within region.
  • Participate in sales calls with members of sales team to acquire new business or close on business.
  • Execute and support the operational aspects of booked business, including proposal generation, contract writing, and customer correspondence.

Analyzing & Reporting on Sales and Financial Data

  • Analyze market information using sales systems and implement strategy to achieve financial room and catering goals for each property.
  • Assist Revenue Management with completing accurate six period projections.
  • Review sales and catering guest satisfaction results to identify areas of improvement.

Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service

  • Display leadership in guest hospitality and exemplify customer service as a positive example for guest relations.
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Meet with guests during pre- and post-convention meetings to obtain feedback on quality of product, service levels, execution against contract, and overall satisfaction.
  • Execute and support the company's customer service standards.
  • Execute exemplary customer service to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting customers and ensuring their satisfaction before and during their program or event.
  • Serve customers by understanding their needs and recommending appropriate features and services that meet their needs and exceed their expectations while building loyalty.
  • Gain understanding of each property's primary target customer and service expectations; serve customers by understanding their business, business issues, and concerns to offer better business solutions prior to and during the program or event.

Building Successful Relationships

  • Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Work collaboratively with on and off-property sales channels to ensure property needs are achieved and sales efforts are complementary, not duplicative.
  • Work with Human Resources, Engineering, and Loss Prevention to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and/or union requirements.
  • Attend customer events, trade shows, and sales missions to maintain, build, or develop key relationships with GSO managers and customers.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major, with 3 years experience in sales and marketing or related professional area; OR 4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major, with 1 year experience in sales and marketing or related professional area.
