Role Overview

Sales Manager - Corporate at Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi. The role is based in Abu Dhabi and reports to the Director of Marketing or General Manager.

Role Purpose

Lead the corporate sales function to drive hotel bookings, manage sales team performance, and build relationships with key business accounts and travel partners while ensuring alignment between sales efforts and operational delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise sales staff according to sales policies and practices established by Sales and Marketing.
  • Coach and plan effectively to motivate all sales personnel to achieve departmental and hotel goals.
  • Oversee training of sales staff.
  • Appraise performance of sales employees periodically according to Human Resources policy and initiate appropriate corrective measures to improve deficiencies.
  • Exercise administrative supervision on sales employees, including personnel requisition, disciplinary action, promotion and training decisions.
  • Approve leave and overtime requests.
  • Check and ensure that jobs assigned to subordinates are effectively completed on a timely basis and according to hotel expectations.
  • Recommend corrective actions for unfavorable variances in job standards and budget commitment.
  • Propose and execute effective measures to ensure sufficient manpower in accordance with business volume.

Sales Operations & Booking Management

  • Direct sales executives to contact potential business leads while maintaining control of heavy booking dates.
  • Resolve booking conflicts based on group importance, revenue potential, and alternate dates.
  • Report on confirmed and anticipated bookings for forecasting purposes.
  • Correspond with group contacts.
  • Establish departmental procedures for approaching contacts from initial call through documentation and follow-up.
  • Provide directions to all concerned departments regarding incoming groups.
  • Maintain close contact with travel agents, local business groups, and airlines.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Advise management of sales effort progress and bookings.
  • Furnish sales monthly reports according to requests on a timely basis.
  • Analyse sales results and competition, and recommend ways to improve the situation.

Stakeholder & Departmental Coordination

  • Meet regularly with hotel department heads to review sales efforts and provide feedback from customers.
  • Liaise with Rooms & Guest Services, Reservation, and Banquet Department.
  • Liaise with concerned departments to ensure that operations will deliver the best quality products to clients.
  • Establish two-way communication within and related departments.
  • Communicate effectively with guests, subordinates, immediate supervisors, and other section heads.
  • Entertain clients as needed.
  • Coordinate with all concerned personnel to ensure that all activities are accomplished.
  • Interact with clients, guests, government officials, suppliers, and other important individuals in the community in promoting the hotel.

Policy & Standards Development

  • Follow, review, and advise the superior of ways to improve Sales and Marketing Standards and Policy.
  • Know, understand, and review the job description of all positions in the department and be able to perform the task as required.
  • Know and understand department policies well and guide others to perform the job well.
  • Recognize and manage to maintain good quality products and presentation.
  • Check, review, and propose service standards established by the company.

Commercial & Community Relations

  • Promote the hotel's image and businesses as a good sales person.
  • Participate in community projects or activities to promote the hotel's image and improve community relationships.

Operations & Administration

  • Identify and solve problems in a professional manner.
  • Manage time effectively by meeting deadlines on time.
  • Attend daily briefings and departmental meetings as assigned by supervisor.
  • Assist others to ensure the operation runs smoothly and effectively.
  • Provide assistance to employees when required.
  • Maintain self and all personnel's grooming standards.
  • Promote the hotel's environmental programs and other programs organized by the hotel.
  • Manage waste by reducing and recycling, and carefully use resources.
  • Approve and be responsible for the requisition point and par stock of products used by the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Motivate all employees to grow within the company.
  • Attend training as required by the company and develop yourself to grow effectively.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 4 to 5 years sales experience in a similar capacity.
  • Preferably in a 5-star class environment.
