Role Overview

RPA MX Avionics Technician I/Deployment Pool at Amentum. This position supports deployments to various CONUS and OCONUS locations as required.

Role Purpose

Perform organizational and intermediate level electronic maintenance and modifications on RPA systems and support equipment. Apply basic technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting Air Force technical orders, manufacturers' manuals, and similar documents using test equipment to affect repairs.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repair

• Apply basic technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems affecting operational and maintenance capabilities.
• Maintain, repair, and install various types of electronic equipment and related devices.
• Apply basic technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining malfunctions and restoring equipment operations.
• Inspect and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment.

Technical Operations

• Use common and complex test instruments in the performance of assigned duties.
• Exercise independent judgment in performing assigned tasks in conjunction with designated direction from Production Staff, Avionic Leads, Avionics/Com Technician IIIs, or Avionics Technician IIs.
• Require basic understanding of the interrelationships of circuits and associated systems.
• Work with limited supervision.

Deployment Support

• Support deployments to various CONUS and OCONUS locations as required.
• Be flexible in support of assigned deployment and work schedules.
• Deploy to forward locations in other countries as directed by the government.
• Meet all OCONUS deployment criteria, including pre-deployment medical screening, as a condition of employment.

General Duties

• Perform all other duties as assigned as requested.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School Diploma or completion of relevant military and/or vocational technical school curriculum.
• Minimum of one year of actual Aircraft Avionics and/or Ground Control Station (GCS) maintenance experience.
• Basic knowledge of basic and complex electronics maintenance and repair.
• Basic knowledge of RFF systems, components, and accessories.
• General understanding of technical publications related to Aircraft electronics maintenance.
• Basic theory and principles of operation of engines, accessories and components, theory of flight and electronic flight controls, and thorough understanding of electrical and electronic principles.
• Capability to use and read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and data tables.
• Ability to inspect and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment.
• Active Secret US Government Clearance within the last 12 months (US citizenship required to obtain a Secret clearance).
• Valid U.S. Passport with a minimum of two years remaining validity and at least two facing pairs (four total) of blank Visa pages.
• Current/active State Issued Driver's License.

Additional Information

Certifications & Security

• Must be eligible to gain and maintain one of the following IAT Level II certifications within 90 days of hire or after the second deployment: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, Security+ CE, SSCP, or GSEC, in accordance with DOD 8570.01-M commensurate with assigned duties.
• Must achieve a passing grade in all required courses and certifications for continued employment, as needed.
• Must submit updated SF-86 within 30 days of hire start date.
• Must maintain required DoD security clearance commensurate with assigned duties during employment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry and/or wear Military Issued Equipment in excess of 50 pounds for extended periods.

Health & Vaccination

• Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated with booster. Accommodations may be available under limited circumstances.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current IAT Level II Certification.
• RPA Deployment Experience.
• Prior Experience as a Defense Contractor.
• MQ-9 Experience as an Avionics Technician.
• Avionics Technician experience within the last 10 years.

USAF Equivalent

• USAF equivalent position is Avionics Technician Apprentice.
