Quantity Surveyor

Role Overview

Quantity Surveyor at Al Tayer Group. This role supports the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Project Quantity Surveyor in managing project costs, valuations, and subcontract administration to maintain profitability through accurate costing.

Role Purpose

Enable the project team to maintain profitability and schedule control by preparing bills of quantity, managing variations and claims, administering subcontracts, certifying invoices, and preparing accurate monthly valuations and final accounts.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Management

• Detect variations and changes to the contract in liaison with the project team.
• Prepare, negotiate, and follow up on variations and claims.
• Secure project interests with necessary bonds, warranties, insurances, undertakings, and other protections until final discharge of obligations.

Subcontract Administration

• Identify subcontract elements in the tender and float enquiries to obtain quotations.
• Vet quotations and prepare comparison reports to finalize subcontractor selection.
• Check all quantities in subcontractor accounts and re-measure all work carried out.
• Support subcontractors in the preparation of final accounts.
• Prepare subcontractor payment certificates once value certificates are received.
• Arrange subcontractor payments according to contract terms based on work completed.

Valuation & Costing

• Prepare bills of quantity for assigned projects.
• Prepare monthly valuation reports to track the percentage of work completed against each item.
• Control deadlines and identify corrective actions if portions of work fall behind schedule.
• Prepare interim and final accounts once the job is complete.
• Obtain payment certificates from the client to enable the company to collect outstanding amounts on due date.

Qualifications & Experience

• Technical qualification in Quantity Surveying.
• 2 to 5 years relevant experience.
• Minimum 2 years experience in post-contract Quantity Surveying, preferably in Joinery or Interior fit-out business.
• Local market knowledge is advantageous.
