QA Automation Lead

Role Overview

QA Automation Lead at Mirai Arabian International, a Scopely Studio. This is a hands-on leadership role for a highly technical quality professional working to elevate quality across games and platforms by driving automation excellence, mentoring quality engineers, and implementing modern quality engineering practices.

Role Purpose

Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable automation frameworks while building and mentoring a Quality Engineering team. Ensure the highest quality standards across multiple projects by solving complex testing challenges, embedding quality throughout the development lifecycle, and empowering teams through coaching and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Framework Development

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable automation frameworks for web, mobile, and backend services supporting the gaming ecosystem.
• Architect automation frameworks from the ground up.
• Conduct code reviews and lead training sessions on quality engineering best practices to promote high standards for maintainability and scalability.

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Develop automated tests for functional, integration, regression, API, and end-to-end testing.
• Analyze test results to identify root causes.
• Ensure quality is embedded throughout the development lifecycle in collaboration with game teams and internal/external QA teams.

Pipeline & Process Integration

• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery practices.
• Establish a structured code-review process for the Quality Engineering team.

Mentorship & Leadership

• Provide technical leadership to the Quality Engineering team.
• Mentor junior and senior engineers to grow their automation and programming expertise.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree.
• 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance with a strong focus on automation.
• Proven experience designing and building automation frameworks from scratch.
• Experience testing mobile applications and web platforms.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and API testing expertise.
• Understanding of Agile development methodologies.

Nice to Have

• Experience testing mobile games, gaming platforms, or live-service products.
• Familiarity with cloud testing platforms such as BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, Lambda Test, or AWS Farm.
• Experience with performance, reliability, or scalability testing.
• ISTQB Automation or relevant quality certifications.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium WebDriver, Appium, and Python/Java.
• Strong experience using version control tools like GitHub.
• Knowledge of AI-assisted testing tools and how generative AI can improve test creation, maintenance, analysis, and productivity.
• Strong passion for exploring emerging technologies that enhance software quality.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Additional Information

Success Milestones

• 30 Days: Map out the existing technical architecture and build strong relationships with cross-functional game teams and external QA partners.
• 90 Days: Design or upgrade core web automation framework and establish a structured code-review process for the Quality Engineering team.
• 6 Months: Achieve a measurable reduction in manual regression cycle times and increase automated test coverage across critical paths.
