Principal Rotating Equipment Design Engineer

Role Overview

Principal Rotating Equipment Design Engineer at KBR. A leadership role designing and specifying rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, seals, specialty and utility equipment for Oil & Gas, hydrocarbon, petroleum refinery, offshore, and infrastructure projects.

Role Purpose

Lead the mechanical engineering discipline on medium to large-scale FEED and detailed engineering projects, providing technical leadership in rotating equipment design, ensuring design integrity, managing team performance, and delivering work on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Planning

• Lead a team of up to 10 mechanical engineers and designers.
• Develop discipline work plan.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the project team, including clients, in rotating equipment.

Technical Design & Review

• Review and check equipment data sheets and specifications.
• Perform technical studies including compressor configuration studies, driver selection, life cycle cost studies, specialty equipment configuration studies, material handling studies, and RAM studies.
• Evaluate technical bids.
• Perform packaged equipment reviews.

Project Delivery & Integrity

• Ensure design integrity of mechanical scope.
• Monitor performance of assigned staff.
• Deliver work on schedule and within budget.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Maintain broad understanding of other disciplines' activities.
• Partner with project management and client representatives.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 15 years' experience in Oil & Gas, hydrocarbon, petroleum refinery, offshore, and/or infrastructure industries.
• Experience in FEED and detailed engineering of medium to large-scale projects.

Skills & Competencies

• Design practices, construction practices and procedures.
• Codes and industry standards: ASME, ANSI, NFPA, API, OSAH, ISA, and NEC.
• Rotating equipment and turbo machinery systems, installation, pre-commissioning, and mechanical completion.
• Saudi Aramco Standards and procedures (added advantage).
