Principal Electrical Design Engineer (Offshore)

Role Overview

Principal Electrical Design Engineer (Offshore) at KBR. The role leads electrical design for substations, transmission, and distribution systems in offshore and onshore oil and gas, hydrocarbon, and infrastructure projects.

Role Purpose

To provide senior technical leadership and design oversight for medium to large-scale electrical engineering projects, directing a team of electrical engineers and designers through conceptual, FEED, and detailed engineering phases while ensuring design integrity, budget performance, and on-schedule delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead a team of 10 to 20 electrical engineers and designers.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the project team, including Clients.
• Develop discipline work plans.
• Prepare work-hour estimates.
• Monitor performance of assigned staff and on-schedule delivery of work within budget.

Design & Engineering

• Develop electrical equipment sizes and specifications.
• Perform and check electrical systems studies (for example ETAP).
• Perform and check power systems analyses.
• Own design integrity of electrical scope across assigned projects.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

• Lead technical presentations to Clients and their representatives as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years' experience in Oil and Gas industry, hydrocarbon, petroleum refinery, offshore, and infrastructure industries.
• Demonstrated leadership of a large team of electrical engineers and designers.
• Experience in Conceptual, FEED, and detailed engineering of medium to large-scale projects.

Skills & Competencies

• Expert knowledge and understanding of Design Practices, Construction Practices, and Procedures.
• Wide knowledge of codes and industry standards: IEEE, NFPA, API, IEC, and ANSI/NEMA.
• Wide knowledge in Electrical Power Systems, Protection Philosophy, and Protection Device Coordination.
• Knowledge of Saudi Aramco Standards and procedures (added advantage).
