Practice Lead - Renewables

Role Overview

Practice Lead – Renewables at WSP in the Middle East. This role focuses on advancing wind, solar, and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across the region, providing strategic direction and technical expertise to drive sustainable renewable energy solutions.

Role Purpose

Lead the growth and delivery of renewable energy business by providing strategic oversight of major projects and programmes, developing go-to-market strategy, securing new consultancy assignments, and building a sustainable delivery model across the GCC region.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Direction & Business Development

• Lead the growth and delivery of renewable energy business.
• Develop WSP go-to-market strategy for renewable and energy projects.
• Identify opportunities to develop new clients and prepare business development plans supporting business growth.
• Represent the business with senior clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.

Project Delivery & Execution

• Provide oversight of execution of major renewable energy projects and programmes.
• Deliver Owner's Engineer, LTA (Long-Term Agreement), and Feasibility Study assignments for renewable power projects.
• Secure and lead the execution of consultancy assignments including feasibility reports, technical assessments, LTA, and owner's engineer assignments.
• Create solid delivery models for renewable projects across the entire region.
• Ensure project management, execution, and timely cash collection to meet business KPIs.

Bids, Proposals & Client Management

• Lead bids and proposal-related activities to facilitate timely submissions of bids for new opportunities while complying with WSP internal governance procedures.
• Maintain good relationships with clients and ensure delivery aligns with client requirements.
• Demonstrate client handling capability while front-facing clients on ongoing and upcoming projects.

Technical Leadership & Quality

• Work closely with technical teams to develop solutions aligned with client and market requirements.
• Review work performed by junior team members to maintain quality delivery.
• Grow the team, guide, and mentor junior team members.
• Collaborate with GCC team members to ensure project delivery and offer the best value proposition to clients.

Regional Operations

• Travel around the GCC region as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.
• Experience leading teams, projects, and business within engineering consultancy or major project environment.
• Business development experience in the renewable energy space, including wind, solar, and BESS.
• Experience as a seller-doer.
• Exposure to international projects.
• Demonstrable experience in client handling while front-facing clients on ongoing and upcoming projects.
