Role Overview

PMC Senior Construction Superintendent – Civil at Wood PLC. This is a field-based role supporting the successful delivery of a major project within the Construction team. Three positions are available.

Role Purpose

The Senior Construction Superintendent – Civil provides field leadership and oversight for all civil construction activities, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and schedule requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Field Leadership & Supervision

• Lead and supervise all civil construction activities on site, ensuring safe and efficient execution of work.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to construction supervisors and junior team members.

Compliance & Standards

• Ensure civil works are performed in compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) requirements.
• Demonstrate commitment to HSE excellence and safe construction practices.

Contractor & Performance Management

• Monitor contractor performance and construction progress to ensure project milestones and objectives are achieved.
• Monitor contractor manpower, equipment, and materials to optimize productivity and construction performance.
• Manage EPC contractors, subcontractors, and large site construction teams.

Coordination & Site Activities

• Coordinate site activities involving earthworks, excavation, foundations, concrete structures, underground utilities, roads, drainage systems, paving works, and structural civil works.
• Interface effectively with engineering, procurement, quality, commissioning, and client representatives to facilitate smooth project execution.
• Participate in site meetings, safety reviews, progress reviews, and construction coordination meetings.

Quality & Inspection

• Conduct routine site inspections and audits to verify quality, productivity, safety compliance, and adherence to project requirements.
• Review and approve construction work packs, method statements, risk assessments, and lifting plans related to civil activities.
• Ensure timely completion of inspections, testing activities, punch list closure, and mechanical completion requirements associated with civil systems.

Planning & Problem Resolution

• Support construction planning, scheduling, progress measurement, and forecasting activities.
• Identify and resolve field construction issues and coordinate with engineering and project teams to ensure timely resolution.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor of Engineering in Civil.
• Minimum 15 years of experience within oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, infrastructure, or industrial projects, with at least 5 years in a similar superintendent or leadership role.
• Extensive experience supervising major civil construction works, including site preparation and earthworks, excavation and trenching, reinforced concrete structures, foundations and equipment foundations, roads and paving works, drainage and underground utility systems, and structural civil construction.
• Strong knowledge of international civil engineering codes, standards, and construction best practices.
• Proven experience managing EPC contractors, subcontractors, and large site construction teams.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, construction schedules, and quality requirements.

Additional Information

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Previous experience on large-scale greenfield and brownfield PMC projects in the Middle East.
• Experience working on ADNOC, major IOC, or EPC projects.
• Familiarity with construction management and digital project execution systems.
• Professional certifications in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Project Management.
• Experience supporting construction completion, handover, and commissioning phases.
