PMC Offshore Lead Structural Engineer

Role Overview

PMC Offshore Lead Structural Engineer with Wood PLC, based at the client office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, with possibility to move to offshore rotation.

Role Purpose

Provide specialist-level structural engineering expertise for ADNOC Offshore projects under a PMC scope, ensuring that EPC contractors' designs comply with project specifications, international codes, ADNOC standards, and HSE requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Technical

• Review and approve structural design deliverables from EPC contractors including design basis, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Review designs for offshore jackets, topsides, bridges, modules, decks, and helidecks.
• Review onshore and offshore steel structures, pipe racks, and foundations.
• Ensure compliance with ADNOC Engineering Standards.
• Ensure compliance with international codes including API, AISC, BS, Eurocode, ISO, and DNV.
• Perform independent checks on critical structural calculations when required.
• Review structural analyses covering in-place, transportation, lifting, fatigue, seismic, blast, and accidental loads.
• Provide technical input for constructability, operability, and maintainability.

PMC & Interface Management

• Act as PMC focal point for all structural engineering matters.
• Interface with ADNOC Offshore (client), EPC contractors, and other disciplines including process, piping, naval, geotechnical, and construction.
• Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, constructability, and design review workshops.

Project Support

• Support project phases including FEED, Detailed Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, Installation, and Commissioning.
• Review and comment on vendor documents.
• Review fabrication and installation methodologies.
• Review lifting plans and transportation analyses.
• Support site activities during fabrication and offshore installation as required.

Quality, HSE & Compliance

• Ensure all structural designs meet HSE, quality, and ADNOC offshore safety requirements.
• Participate in audits, technical queries (TQs), and management of change (MOC).
• Ensure lessons learned are captured and applied.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred).
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng or PE) is an advantage.
• 15+ years of experience in structural engineering.
• Minimum 8–10 years in offshore oil and gas projects.
• Proven PMC or Consultant experience with EPC contractor oversight.
• Strong experience with ADNOC Offshore or Middle East offshore projects is highly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Offshore structural design and review for jackets, topsides, and offshore modules.
• Structural analysis software including SACS, STAAD, ANSYS, and SESAM.
• Knowledge of offshore installation methods.
• Familiarity with ADNOC standards and offshore HSE practices.
