Role Overview

PMC Lead Electrical Engineer at Wood PLC. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer – Offshore with a proven track record in overseeing the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems on offshore platforms to ensure safe and efficient operation for a high-profile client.

Role Purpose

Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of electrical systems for offshore platforms. Oversee engineering teams and ensure all electrical systems comply with safety regulations, meet project specifications, and operate reliably and efficiently while managing projects, budgets, schedules and resources.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Implementation

• Lead the design and implementation of electrical systems for offshore platforms to ensure they meet project specifications and operational requirements.
• Oversee detail design methods, standards and data used on assigned projects to meet Client requirements.
• Carry out calculations and studies required to finalize electrical equipment specifications.
• Assist designers in preparation of electrical drawings such as SLDs, Protection and Control schematics and layout drawings.
• Prepare material requisitions and technical bid evaluations for electrical equipment on assigned projects.

Compliance and Safety

• Ensure that all electrical systems comply with safety regulations and standards to protect personnel and equipment.
• Demonstrate full coherence with all international codes and standards.
• Understand the contract quality management system and ensure these requirements are met.
• Ensure that all electrical work meets quality standards and specifications.

Maintenance and Reliability

• Develop and oversee maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and efficiency of electrical systems.

Project Management

• Manage electrical engineering projects, including budgeting, scheduling and resource allocation.
• Participate in project scheduling and project review activities.
• Carry out electrical engineering work as required by the lead electrical engineer in accordance with the agreed project schedule.

Team Leadership

• Lead the team of Engineers and Designers.
• Provide technical expertise and support to engineering teams and operations personnel.

Vendor and Quality Management

• Review vendor documents to ensure equipment vendors provide timely and quality input into design packages.
• Review all third-party discipline design work.
• Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) for electrical equipment or equipment with significant electrical content on assigned projects.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Actively communicate with other disciplines to optimize areas of interface during design development, review and check processes.

Risk Management

• Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with electrical systems on offshore platforms.

Systems and Administration

• Set up and maintain electrical databases on assigned projects.
• Demonstrate proficiency in ETAP, Navisworks, Lighting calculation software (Dialux etc.) and MS Office.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university.
• Minimum fifteen (15+) years of relevant experience in the Offshore/Onshore Oil and Gas industry.
• Minimum five (5) years preferred experience in GCC region.
• At least five (5) years of experience in similar position in mega Oil and Gas or Petrochemical projects, managing teams of Specialists, Senior Engineers and Engineers.
• Offshore experience is required.
• ADNOC experience is desired.
• PMC experience is required.
• Previous experience of working in the Middle East is an advantage.
• Working hands-on experience on SPEL.
• Must have working knowledge and experience of electrical discipline relevant to offshore/onshore oil and gas industry codes, specifications and practices.
