Plumber Technician

Role Overview

Plumber Technician at Intrepid Global Solutions. This position is deployed in Qatar with 100% travel to the deployed location.

Role Purpose

Maintain, repair, and install a wide variety of plumbing systems and mechanical equipment in domestic, commercial, industrial, and agricultural applications, ensuring efficient operating condition and compliance with applicable codes and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Installation and Assembly

• Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
• Install and repair plumbing fixtures, including sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners.
• Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals such as iron, steel, brass and lead, and non-metals such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic.
• Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings using hand tools and power tools.
• Cut and thread pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine.
• Bend pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by placing pipe over block and bending by hand.

System Inspection and Planning

• Study building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.
• Inspect structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided and to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.
• Locate and mark position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors.

Maintenance and Repair

• Repair and maintain plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains.
• Weld holding fixtures to steel structural members as needed.

Testing and Quality Assurance

• Join pipe by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulking.
• Fill pipe system with water or air and read pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Master or Journeyman Plumber License or equivalent plumbing experience.
• 3 years of related plumbing experience specializing in backflow inspection, testing, and maintenance of backflow prevention devices and systems.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools including pipe cutters, cutting torches, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.
• Knowledge of plumbing codes and specifications.
• Ability to read building plans and working drawings.
• Welding capability.
• Ability to read pressure gauges and conduct system pressure testing.

Additional Information

• Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License.
• Possess a valid U.S. Passport (preferred).
• Must be able to meet all current USCENTCOM Deployment Policy Requirements as outlined in the USCENTCOM APR 23 MOD EIGHTEEN TO USCENTCOM INDIVIDUAL AND INDIVIDUAL-UNIT DEPLOYMENT POLICY.
• Able to obtain and maintain a valid Residency Visa for Qatar.
• Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
• Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather, and hazardous conditions.
• Must have and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
• Travel: 100% in deployed location.
