Plant General Manager

Role Overview

Plant General Manager at ACWA Power, Red Sea Project – Power & Water Operations, located in Red Sea, Saudi Arabia.

Role Purpose

Provide overall leadership and direction to plant operations and maintenance teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance, optimum resource utilization, and uninterrupted supply of power and water. The role is accountable for operational, financial, contractual, people, HSE, and stakeholder performance while ensuring compliance with company standards and contractual obligations to maximize plant reliability and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

• Develop and implement plant strategies and operational plans in alignment with ACWA Operation's O&M strategy, ensuring achievement of production, performance, and business objectives.

Operations & Reliability

• Lead plant operations and maintenance activities, production planning, plant availability, operational efficiency, and technical performance to ensure safe and reliable operations.
• Provide technical leadership in root cause analysis, risk assessment, plant modifications, troubleshooting, and reliability improvement initiatives.

Financial Management

• Manage the plant operating budget, financial performance, cost control, resource optimization, profitability, and compliance with contractual obligations.

People & Organization

• Lead workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, talent development, coaching, and mentoring to maintain a competent and motivated plant organization.

Supply Chain & Procurement

• Oversee supply chain activities, inventory management, procurement, spare parts, contractor performance, and effective implementation of SAP processes.

Compliance & Governance

• Ensure compliance with Integrated Management System (IMS), HSE requirements, applicable legislation, company policies, audits, and corrective actions.

Stakeholder Management

• Maintain effective relationships with the Project Company, Board, shareholders, OEMs, contractors, and relevant authorities while ensuring accurate reporting and continuous operational improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Minimum 12–15 years of experience in managing a production plant, with operational experience in the power generation and water desalination sector.
• Extensive experience in plant operations and maintenance, financial management, contractual compliance, and operational performance.

Skills & Competencies

• Extensive knowledge of power generation and water desalination plant operations, maintenance, and performance management.
• Strong techno-commercial knowledge, including contracts, agreements, budgeting, financial management, and profitability.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, project management, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of supply chain management, SAP processes, Integrated Management System (IMS), HSE, and operational governance.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, influencing, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Strong people management, mentoring, coaching, teamwork, and organizational skills.

Additional Information

• Site-based role at the Red Sea Project, Saudi Arabia.
• Availability to support critical plant operations, emergencies, and operational requirements outside normal working hours when necessary.
