Physiotherapy Technician (STMC Rehab)

Role Overview

Physiotherapy Technician at SEHA, providing support to physiotherapy services at STMC Rehab under the supervision of Senior Physiotherapist/Physiotherapist.

Role Purpose

Support the provision of safe, effective, evidence-based and comprehensive physiotherapy services. Deliver physiotherapy treatment programs under direction from the physiotherapist using evidence-based protocols, maintain therapy equipment, monitor patient progress, and ensure accurate clinical documentation and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Treatment Delivery & Patient Management

• Deliver physiotherapy treatment programs under direction from the physiotherapist using evidence-based protocols.
• Monitor patients' progress and adapt treatment programs as agreed with physiotherapy staff.
• Ensure qualified staff are updated accordingly with patient progress information.
• Use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication methods to communicate effectively with patients to progress rehabilitation and treatment programs.
• Escort patients when required within United Arab Emirates.
• Interpret for patients if bilingual and required.

Patient Assessment & Environmental Evaluation

• Take measurements of patients as required, such as body size and seating posture, to match patients to equipment.
• Assess environmental factors including home layout and building access of patients whenever required.
• Assess current equipment provision.
• Record relevant clinical information obtained from the patient during the course of the examination in line with current policies and procedures.

Equipment Management & Maintenance

• Monitor all equipment within the department and flag any maintenance requirements or breakdowns to senior staff.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of all rehabilitation, physiotherapy and special equipment available to the section/department.
• Intervene whenever practical in the fixing and mending of defected equipment and devices.
• Maintain compliance with all safety regulation in manipulating equipment.

Clinical Documentation & Compliance

• Produce timely, accurate and detailed clinical inputs in accordance with agreed local and regional standards as applied to rehabilitation and physiotherapy devices and equipment used.
• Record relevant clinical information obtained from the patient during examination in line with current policies and procedures.
• Maintain the strictest confidence in relation to patient information whether formally or informally recorded.
• Maintain compliance with all infection control regulations and policies when dealing with equipment and patients.

Education & Training Support

• Assess appropriate materials and equipment following discussion with senior staff.
• Demonstrate and teach the safe use of materials and equipment in an appropriate manner to clients and/or carers within the limits of competency.
• Assist in training of students if required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Graduate of an accredited Physiotherapy Technician course with a minimum 2-year curriculum.
