Operator, Slickline

Role Overview

Operator, Slickline at ADNOC. Responsible for raising and lowering downhole tools with a wire cable to test and maintain wells, retrieve and install valves, plugs and pressure regulators, and direct fishing tools used to retrieve broken or lost wire or equipment.

Role Purpose

Operate slickline equipment to safely lower and raise downhole tools to proper depth, manage well testing and maintenance activities, coordinate with third parties and customers, and ensure compliance with all operational, technical, safety and asset integrity standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Equipment Management

• Lower and raise downhole tools and plugs to proper depth using wire cable.
• Retrieve and install valves, plugs and pressure regulators.
• Direct the fishing tools used to retrieve broken or lost wire or equipment.
• Rig-up equipment in accordance with accepted procedures.
• Use weight indicator gauges and depth counters to monitor the tension and depth of the slickline.
• Perform on-site emergency unit and equipment maintenance.
• Carry out all maintenance jobs in line with assigned time standards.
• Inform the Maintenance Supervisor in case additional resources are required to carry out the job within the assigned time frame.

Safety, Health, Environment & Compliance

• Report all hazards or potentially hazardous situations, accidents, incidents and injuries immediately to supervisor.
• Attend weekly Safety Meetings.
• Review, understand and implement operational and technical standards including other company requirements for each task performed.
• Comply with all UAE, ADNOC, ADNOC Drilling and client Asset Integrity Management codes of practice.
• Support the institution of an HSE culture and ensure compliance with relevant HSE policies, procedures and controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines across the Division in line with international standards, best practices and Corporate Code of Practices and to ensure integrity and safety of assets.
• Maintain the work environment clean and tidy before, during and after executing the job, in line with established standards of Hygiene and Housekeeping.

Data Collection & Reporting

• Ensure relevant data is recorded and collected.
• Collect technical data from the field as required and provide inputs to prepare Section progress reports for Company Management.
• Provide input for the preparation of Method statements and initiate Near Miss reports.

Stakeholder & Customer Coordination

• Interact with third parties whose activities could negatively impact slickline job execution process to ensure proper coordination.
• Consult with customers about products and services and promote good customer relations on site.
• Maintain regular contact with all Supervisors and Operators for follow-up on slickline services.
• Maintain regular contact with Team Leaders in other departments.
• Maintain regular contact with clients to discuss slickline services and HSE matters.

Training & Development

• Provide on-the-job Training to meet Competency Based Training programs for UAE Nationalization.

Tools & Equipment Maintenance

• Maintain all tools, safety gear and equipment provided by company safely and in working condition.
• Arrange for repair or replacement of any tools and safety gear that may not be in good working condition.

Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to the identification of areas and opportunities for continuous improvement in the operating procedures, modification of functional processes, machinery or equipment.

General

• Implement and comply with all relevant functional policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures to accomplish operational objectives.
• Perform other similar or related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent computer skills.
