Munitions Technician

Role Overview

Munitions Technician at Amentum. This role supports U.S. Air Force munitions operations at assigned sites.

Role Purpose

Receive, store, inspect, test, transport and maintain USAF Munitions, Munitions Material Handling Equipment (MMHE) and supporting resources. Operate Theater Integrated Combat Munitions System (TICMS), ensure compliance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS), and may supervise Other Country National (OCN) Munitions Workforce.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

• Consistently observe and enforce all USAF and host nation explosives safety, AFOSH and security standards during all explosives and non-explosives operations in assigned sites and temporary duty locations.
• Prepare and deliver general and explosives safety briefings.
• Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to prescribed procedures and as required for task being performed.

Emergency Response

• Take necessary control and timely response actions in the event of an emergency.

Quality & Maintenance

• Conduct all munitions work according to established quality processes, identifying potential problems and recommending solutions.
• Recondition, repair and replace defective or missing parts of munitions and containers.
• Inspect and perform minor maintenance on facilities and installed equipment.
• Inspect, operate and perform maintenance on light vehicles and handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and manual hoists.
• Inspect and operate metal strapping equipment, stencil machines, heat sealers, pneumatic paint guns, air compressors and power tools.

Storage & Inventory

• Perform munitions storage actions according to stringent explosives standards.
• Conduct warehouse inventories and correct any discrepancies.
• Work closely with operations personnel to resolve any serviceability and accountability issues noted during warehouse operations.

Munitions Handling & Transportation

• Prepare and configure munitions shipments for air, sea and surface transportation.
• Upload and download trucks with incoming and outgoing munitions shipments.
• Transport munitions to and from flightline holding areas and to support daily operations within the department, if qualified.

Inspection

• Assist inspecting munitions in accordance with 11A-1-10 and applicable technical orders.
• Assist inspecting munitions brass, residue and containers in accordance with 11A-1-60.

Systems Operations

• Operate assigned TICMS as applicable to the Site's processes.
• Perform required actions in TICMS utilizing the Receiver role.
• Perform entry-controller duties as required.

Crew Leadership

• Provide Crew Chiefs operations and clear instructions about the work to assigned crew members.

Facilities & Equipment Cleaning

• Clean vehicles, equipment and facilities.

General Duties

• Work necessary hours, to include stand-by duties, to support mission requirements during peacetime and combat contingencies.
• Work in normal office and maintenance shop or warehouse environment and may be required to work outdoors for extended periods.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have completed formal USAF Munitions Systems training or US Service equivalent.
• Must have basic knowledge of the USAF Supply and Tech Order systems or US service equivalent.
• Preferred: minimum of four years of experience with USAF Military Munitions.
• Preferred: Associate's Degree in Munitions Management.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficient in personal computers and Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office, to include as a minimum PowerPoint, Excel and Word programs.
• Capable of operating material handling equipment.
• Normal color perception and depth of vision required.

Additional Information

• Must possess a valid home country driver's license and ability to obtain host nation driver's license.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. US Citizenship is required to obtain Secret Clearance.
• Physically capable of performing all required duties; capable of lifting, pushing and pulling minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
