MEP Inspector

Role Overview

MEP Inspector at Nova Construction, based in the United Arab Emirates. The role is responsible for day-to-day inspection and monitoring of wet and dry utility construction activities undertaken by subcontractors, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality requirements, applicable codes, and Abu Dhabi authority standards and inspection procedures.

Role Purpose

The MEP Inspector ensures that all wet and dry utility installation works by subcontractors comply with approved drawings, specifications, codes, and Abu Dhabi authority standards through comprehensive on-site inspection, monitoring, testing coordination, and defect identification.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection and Monitoring

• Inspect utility installation works and monitor subcontractor activities on site.
• Inspect excavation, trench preparation, bedding, pipe installation, jointing, backfilling, chambers, manholes, ducts, and associated utility works.
• Inspect both wet and dry utility installations, including water, sewerage, stormwater, irrigation, electrical, telecommunications, and associated networks.
• Monitor workmanship and identify defects, deviations, and non-compliant works.
• Verify utility levels, alignment, clearances, and interfaces against approved drawings and requirements.

Verification and Compliance

• Verify installations against approved IFC/shop drawings, specifications, method statements, and ITPs.
• Ensure works comply with applicable Abu Dhabi codes, standards, specifications, and authority requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret IFC drawings, shop drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and approved authority drawings.

Testing and Commissioning

• Witness required testing, including pressure, leakage, CCTV, compaction, duct proving, continuity, and other applicable tests.
• Support utility testing, commissioning, snagging, as-built verification, and handover activities.

Coordination and Communication

• Coordinate inspection requests with the Consultant and follow up on inspections, comments, and approvals.
• Ensure proper sequencing and coordination between utility works and other disciplines.
• Support inspections and approvals by relevant Abu Dhabi authorities and utility service providers, as applicable.
• Provide timely feedback to the Utilities Engineer/Package Manager regarding site issues, progress, and quality concerns.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate inspection records, checklists, photographs, test reports, and relevant site documentation.
• Raise and follow up on site observations, quality issues, and NCR-related corrective actions.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in infrastructure and utility construction inspection/supervision.
• Practical experience in inspecting wet and dry utility installations and associated infrastructure works.
• Good knowledge of UAE and Abu Dhabi codes, standards, specifications, and authority requirements applicable to utility construction.
• Familiarity with Abu Dhabi authority inspection, NOC, testing, approval, and handover requirements.
• Good understanding of utility construction methods, including excavation, bedding, pipe laying, jointing, backfilling, compaction, chambers/manholes, ducting, and testing.
• Experience coordinating inspections with Consultants, Contractors, Subcontractors, and relevant authorities/utility providers.
• Knowledge of construction quality control procedures, inspection requests, checklists, testing requirements, and NCR/observation processes.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong site inspection, reporting, coordination, and communication skills.
