Role Overview
Wood is recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join its UAE business unit in Sharjah, providing day-to-day mechanical engineering support for site operations related queries, activities, and risks to delivery of safe, reliable, and compliant operations. This is a full-time, on-site role reporting to the Operations Engineering Manager.

Role Purpose
The Mechanical Engineer will provide day-to-day mechanical engineering support for site operations to deliver immediate operational support and resolve issues. The role collaborates with the site-based team to ensure identified longer-term engineering solutions are progressed to appropriate teams to reduce risk and grow production.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Support
- Perform day-to-day mechanical engineering support to deliver immediate operations support, working closely with the site team to resolve issues under the direction of the Operations Engineering Manager.
- Provide mechanical engineering support to technical Management of Change (MoCs) and Engineering Queries (EQs).
Risk Assessment & Monitoring
- Ensure asset mechanical engineering risks are understood, appropriately risk assessed, and actions driven to reduce risk within agreed timeframe.
- Define static mechanical engineering operating envelopes, monitor health of static mechanical equipment using operating envelopes, record and investigate excursions outside operating envelopes.
- Monitor static mechanical engineering Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and initiate corrective action as necessary.
Technical Documentation & Procedures
- Write, review, and recommend technical input into Site Operations Procedures (SOPs).
- Generate, revise, and review discipline technical documentation.
Production & Optimization
- Identify production vulnerabilities and optimization opportunities to support production forecast and growth.
Stakeholder Support
- Provide static mechanical engineering coaching to client engineers.
Qualifications & Experience
- BSc or BEng or MEng (UK), BSc (US), or international equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering subject.
- Professional accreditation as Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer.
- Significant experience in an Operations Mechanical Engineering support role.
- Advanced technical knowledge and experience in engineering, with sound knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, and the ability to initiate guidance on appropriate designs and systems to prevent, control, and mitigate risks.
- Sound stakeholder management experience.
