MDM Application Engineer (Stibo STEP)

Role Overview

MDM Application Engineer (Stibo STEP) at Damen Shipyards Group, located in Abu Dhabi, UAE with the Data & AI department. This is a full-time position.

Role Purpose

To strengthen Damen's Master Data Management capability by configuring, developing, and continuously improving the Stibo STEP platform, ensuring master data becomes a reliable foundation for operational excellence, analytics, AI, and digital transformation initiatives across the global organization.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Development & Enhancement

• Configure and maintain Stibo STEP workflows, business rules, validations, and data models.
• Translate business requirements into scalable and sustainable MDM solutions.
• Develop enhancements that improve data quality, process efficiency, and user experience.
• Support the onboarding of new master data domains and data management capabilities.
• Ensure platform configurations align with enterprise architecture and governance standards.

Operational Support

• Investigate and resolve incidents, defects, and service requests.
• Monitor platform performance, stability, and reliability.
• Provide application support and technical guidance to business stakeholders.
• Manage operational activities through established service management processes.
• Maintain technical documentation and knowledge repositories.

Data Quality & Integration

• Design, develop, and support integrations between Stibo STEP and enterprise platforms.
• Ensure master data consistency across multiple systems and business domains.
• Collaborate with integration teams to maintain secure and reliable data flows.
• Support enterprise-wide data quality initiatives.
• Contribute to the implementation of data stewardship and governance practices.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Work with Product Owners, Data Architects, and business stakeholders to prioritize improvements.
• Participate in Agile delivery processes and sprint activities.
• Collaborate with external implementation partners and technology vendors.
• Identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and simplification.
• Promote best practices in Master Data Management across the organization.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Application Engineering, Enterprise Applications, Master Data Management, or related disciplines.
• Hands-on experience with Stibo Systems STEP or comparable MDM platforms.
• Proven experience configuring, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise applications.
• Experience working with business-critical systems in complex organizations.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
• Experience supporting global stakeholders across multiple business functions.

The ideal candidate currently works as an MDM Engineer, MDM Application Engineer, Stibo STEP Consultant, Product Information Management Consultant, Application Engineer, Enterprise Application Specialist, Master Data Specialist, or similar role within a complex industrial organization. Background in manufacturing, shipbuilding, construction, marine, offshore, engineering, energy, utilities, or similar asset-intensive industries is valuable, particularly where fragmented data, disconnected systems, and inconsistent data definitions create operational challenges.
