Role Overview

MCV Technical Superintendent at DP World. This is a shore-based technical management role responsible for the overall management and technical operations of assigned vessels.

Role Purpose

Manage and oversee the technical operations, maintenance, compliance, and cost-effective performance of company-owned and managed vessels. Ensure vessels operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with Class and Statutory regulations while maintaining classification status and meeting management agreement requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Operations & Maintenance

• Oversee daily maintenance and repair of assigned vessels.
• Support and monitor on-board Planned Preventive Maintenance to ensure cost-effective management and effective implementation.
• Ensure the Vessels Planned Maintenance System (Engine Dept.) is operated and reported in accordance with the company's QA system.
• Maintain and oversee operation of vessel anchor handling machinery, winches, cranes and other fixed equipment on board.
• Perform monthly review of logs processes and conduct vessel inspections, submitting reports as required.
• Ensure IMCA guidelines and best industry practices are adhered to at all times.

Compliance & Classification

• Ensure company-owned and managed vessels are operated in a safe, efficient and economical manner in full compliance with Class and Statutory regulations.
• Maintain the classification status of vessels under his charge.
• Ensure survey status reports are sent to vessels on a monthly basis.
• Ensure assigned vessels are fully operational technically or otherwise managed in accordance with management agreement requirements.
• Ensure familiarity with ISM / ISPS requirements is maintained.

Equipment & Installation

• Oversee the installation and certification of third-party equipment on vessels, including Diving, ROV and other temporary equipment.
• Control and update the vessel Technical Library, including ship's plans and drawings.

Budget & Cost Management

• Assume budget responsibility for technical elements of assigned vessels.
• Identify and source technical and operational supplies required for vessels, ensuring rates are economical.
• Coordinate and supervise service repairs utilizing approved sub-contractors, ensuring completion in a timely and satisfactory manner within vessel operational budgets.
• Assist in preparation of individual vessel dockings, surveys, budgets and plans in conjunction with the Operations Manager and CTS Fleet.
• Oversee and provide input to tender document preparation, including establishing costs, budgets and programs, and participate in subsequent bid and tender evaluations.

Liaison & Communication

• Liaise with Vessel Masters and Chief Engineers as required, providing technical advice and assistance.
• Liaise with customers on technical and operational matters including vessel performance.
• Liaise with the Purchasing department to ensure purchase requisitions are tracked and expedited in a timely manner; report to Operations Manager when delays may impact vessel operational capabilities.
• Ensure minimum spare requirements are met.

Planning & Documentation

• Ensure all relevant information regarding vessel repairs and docking is updated in the PMS system.
• Contribute to appraisal and selection of repair yards and technical service providers.
• Carry out appraisals of Chief Engineers at end of their contract.

Development & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain high technical knowledge and ensure personal development through training and self-development.
• Participate in annual review and evaluate projects to determine success and identify improvements for the future; report and present findings.
• Undertake any other technical-related assignments as and when required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Unlimited STCW '95 Chief Engineer's license (Motor) for sea-going vessels, or Engineering degree/diploma in mechanics or electromechanical engineering.
• Minimum 2–3 years' shore experience in a similar position, or 2–3 years' sea-going work experience as Chief Engineer.
• Experience on AHTS, Offshore Supply, Offshore Tug, Dive Support Vessels, PSV or Construction Vessels.
• DP vessel experience highly advantageous.

Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of Planned Maintenance System or Project Management Software.
• Familiarity with ISM / ISPS.
• Computer literacy with good knowledge of Microsoft Office, including MS Projects and CAD.
• Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytic and problem-solving skills.
