Role Purpose
The Mason is responsible for carrying out masonry, tiling, plastering, and general civil maintenance works across the hotel. The role ensures that guest rooms, public areas, restaurants, back-of-house facilities, and exterior spaces are maintained to the highest standards while supporting the Engineering team in delivering a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for guests and team members.
Key Responsibilities
Masonry and Building Finishes
- Carry out masonry, plastering, tiling, grouting, and concrete repair works throughout the hotel.
- Perform minor civil works including bricklaying, cement rendering, screeding, and patch repairs.
- Repair cracks, damaged concrete, expansion joints, and waterproofing defects.
- Repair damaged walls, ceilings, floors, walkways, staircases, and other building finishes.
Tile and Material Installation
- Install, replace, and repair ceramic, porcelain, marble, and granite tiles.
Guest Room and Public Area Maintenance
- Restore damaged finishes in guest rooms and public areas while maintaining hotel quality standards.
- Assist with room refurbishments, renovation projects, and preventive maintenance activities.
Maintenance Operations
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and complete work with minimal disruption to guests.
- Inspect building finishes and report defects that may affect safety, appearance, or guest comfort.
- Maintain accurate work orders and report material requirements to the Engineering Supervisor.
Equipment and Safety
- Operate and maintain masonry tools and equipment in a safe and proper manner.
- Ensure work areas are clean and safe before, during, and after completing maintenance tasks.
- Follow hotel policies, health and safety regulations, and fire life safety procedures at all times.
Coordination and Support
- Coordinate with other Engineering trades to complete maintenance works efficiently.
- Support sustainability initiatives by minimizing material waste and using resources responsibly.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer or Engineering Supervisor as required.
