Role Overview

Library Associate II, Library Systems and Digital Media at Carnegie Mellon University, located in Doha, Qatar.

Role Purpose

Support public service operations, collection maintenance, and patron assistance while maintaining audiovisual equipment, auditing library system records, managing social media content, supporting library programs and events, and supervising student workers when required.

Key Responsibilities

Circulation and Reference Services

• Manage circulation operations and answer reference inquiries.
• Assist patrons with print and digital resources.

Collection Management and Systems

• Conduct collection inventory and audit catalog records.
• Perform copy cataloging.
• Generate and analyze system reports.

Equipment and Technology Support

• Maintain and troubleshoot library audiovisual and lending equipment.
• Create user manuals for library technology tools.

Community Engagement and Programming

• Manage community engagement via social media.
• Create library guides.
• Lead library tours and deliver presentations.

Staffing and Supervision

• Assist with hiring, training, and supervising student workers and junior staff.

Qualifications & Experience

• Associate degree required; Bachelor's in Library & Information Science preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in a library setting, ideally within higher education.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency with Alma ILS and Springshare tools.
• Experience with audiovisual support and data analysis.
• Social media content creation.
• Knowledge of Tableau, R, or Python is a plus.
• Strong communication and teamwork.
• Organization and planning.

• Proactive self-learning.
