Lead Material and Corrosion Engineer

Role Overview

Lead Material and Corrosion Engineer at Wood PLC, recruited for the ADNOC Offshore US LTPD project.

Role Purpose

Provide technical expertise, leadership, and oversight in materials engineering and corrosion control across the ADNOC Offshore US LTPD project, ensuring compliance with international codes and standards while managing contractor deliverables and integrity assurance activities.

Key Responsibilities

Materials and Selection

• Prepare and review Material Selection Diagrams (MSD), Material Selection Reports (MSR), and Piping Material Specifications.
• Oversee material selection ensuring compliance with international standards (API, ASME, DNV) and ADNOC standards.

Corrosion Control and Integrity Management

• Develop Corrosion Management Plans (CMP) and Integrity Operating Windows (IOW).
• Conduct corrosion modeling using ECE software.
• Oversee corrosion control and integrity management.
• Provide expertise in coatings, painting, insulation, and cathodic protection.
• Manage cathodic protection and coatings programs.
• Troubleshoot site-specific corrosion issues.

Risk Assessment and Compliance

• Conduct Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) assessments.
• Conduct risk assessment workshops including HAZOP and HAZID.
• Ensure compliance with ASME, API (579, 571), BS 7910, DNV, and ADNOC standards.
• Perform regular and timely technical reviews of contractors, ensuring quality in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.

Contractor and Bid Management

• Review and approve EPC contractor deliverables, Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), and Non-Material Requirements (NMR).
• Audit EPC contractor deliverables.
• Coordinate technical reviews and bid evaluation.

Design and Engineering Coordination

• Participate in layout reviews, model reviews, design reviews, and technical workshops.
• Provide technical assistance and coordination with other discipline engineers.
• Ensure full utilization of existing facilities while optimizing facilities required for new projects.

Project Delivery and Support

• Provide technical assistance during installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
• Coordinate performance evaluation.
• Report to ADNOC Discipline Team Leader and Engineering Manager.
• Provide support to Project Managers and Engineers within the Project Management Team organization.
• Interface with Managers, Team Leaders, and Engineers in company Technical Departments, Business Units, Operations Units, and Logistics Department.
• Interface regularly with Contractors and Project Management team and discipline engineers as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 15+ years of experience, predominantly in oil and gas upstream offshore industry, working for competitor organizations such as Kent, KBR, Worley, Petrofac, and Saipem.
• Project Management Contractor (PMC) experience is highly preferable.
• Large-project experience is required, with Middle East and GCC experience on projects involving clients such as Saudi Aramco, QatarEnergy, and PDO.
• Detailed knowledge of relevant international codes and standards.
